The Regulator is an OEM part for Frigidaire ranges and cooktops. It's designed to maintain a safe and consistent gas flow to the burners, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency during cooking. This regulator adjusts the pressure of the gas coming from your home's supply line to match the requirements of the appliance, allowing for precise temperature control and reliable operation.

Causes of a bad regulator can include general wear and tear over time, exposure to high temperatures or cleaning chemicals that degrade its components, or a malfunction within the regulator itself, such as a stuck valve or broken diaphragm.

Symptoms of a bad Regulator include:

  • Inconsistent flame size or color
  • Burners not lighting
  • A noticeable gas smell when the cooktop or range is on
  • Weak or uneven heating performance

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Regulator (Part Number: OEM20968713)

1 Answer

Hello Robin, Normally when a burner takes a long time to light, there has been a spill that has stopped up the little holes the gas comes out of. You could also have a bad ground to the ignitor to that burner and it may not be sparking as often as it should. Either way, you need to loosen and retighten the screws that attach the top and burners to the body of the unit and clean the burners up with an old toothbrush and a warm white vinegar solution. If it were the pressure regulator, this would occur on all of the burners, not just one. If you require any more assistance, please don't hesitate to repost.

Bui Khac for Model Number PLGF 389CCB

Hello, I have a big problem with my GAS OVEN, mark: Frigidaire, model PLGF 389CCB. I detect the highly gas odor from oven (the gas goes out with the important flow rate). I am obliged to close the main valve (from house tubing gas). For using the burners surface, I put the Pressure Regulator (part n° AP 2125390) on OFF position, this position allows to close the oven gas outlet. No odor gas is still from oven. What happens ? Which part do I have to change ? Thanks and regards.

Hello David. You will need to test the oven sensor 316233903 in the unit. It should read 1100 ohms at room temperature and 1650 ohms at 350°. If it is bad, the temperature in the oven will be incorrect. To replace it, you remove the screws on the inside of the oven and pull it out and unplug the wires from the sensor. Install the new sensor in reverse order. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Rick, When you cleaned the burner, did you use an awl or large needle and clean all the venturi openings in the burner. Did you check and make sure you have the burner shutter(fuel/air mixxer) adjusted properly for the type gas supplied. Also check and make sure the burner safety valve orifice is centerred in the opening of the shutter assembly. If all four top burners ignite properly and burn with all four on, it's not likely a regulator problem. Thanks and Good Luck

Steve for Model Number FGF355AWC

I'm changing my stove from propane back to natural gas. I'm aware of changing the orifices for top burners (all four top burners in drawing appear to be the same size 9.5k- do all four come with part number: AP2126645?), but it appears there are no other orifices for the oven or broiler in the parts drawing for this particular model. Is the only other thing to do for conversion switching the adjustor on the regulator from lp to ng? Is this as simple as turning the bolt slightly counter-clockwise?
