The Icemaker Assembly is an OEM part for Frigidaire refrigerators. This assembly is responsible for producing and dispensing ice cubes, ensuring that you always have a steady supply of ice for your beverages or food storage needs.

Causes of a bad Icemaker Assembly include mechanical wear and tear that affects the ice ejector arms or the heating element that loosens the ice, and electronic failures that impair the control module's ability to regulate the ice-making process.

Symptoms of a bad Icemaker Assembly include:

  • Failure to produce ice
  • Producing small or misshapen ice cubes
  • Leaking water in the freezer compartment
  • Unusual noises during the ice-making cycle

Fits many Frigidaire side-by-side refrigerators where the icemaker mounts to the back wall of the freezer compartment.

If you experience an issue with the arm hitting the shelf, you may also need to replace the shelf due to manufacturer changes; part number 241691701,

Brian, You can test the switch for 120 vac but sounds like the switch just failed and would need a new icemaker.

Bill, The adjustment screw is located under the cover of the icemaker and there will be a plus or minus sign on the plate where the screw is. You will want to turn the screw in the direction of the minus symbol on the icemaker. If this does not correct then the issue will likely be the water valve that is trickling water in when not calling for water.

Hello Terry! Your icemaker set screw should have a plus or minus right above it. Plus equals bigger ice, minus equals smaller ice. What you're adjusting is the water coming into the icemaker, so if it overfills bring it down some. Hope this helps!

Bill, No, you don't need to use both ice makers. you can turn off the freezer ice maker " The ice maker is turned off and on by lifting/lowering the ice maker’s wire signal arm. To gain access to the ice maker, pull the freezer drawer out. Lift the wire signal arm to turn the ice maker OFF and lower the wire signal arm to turn it ON." If you plan on a long term period, you may want to consider disconnecting the ice maker wire harness at the back of the icemaker, where it plugs into the connector on the back wall. That way you wont run into a situation where the ice maker is accidentally turned back on by accident.

Ricky, There is a thermostat on the unit that will keep the icemaker cycling if the water does not fill all the way on the first time. You will want to see how much water is flowing in after 1 cycle. If there is not much in there then either the filter is bad or the water valve is bad.

Hello Bill, If the problem were low water pressure, both ice makers would be experiencing an insufficient fill. This is more than likely a water valve 242253002 issue.

Gerry B for Model Number fghs2631pf4a

Our Frigidaire side by side is a little over 1 year old. I replaced the ice maker pin prick needle feeder valve with a compression valve. The next day (less than 24 hrs.) the inside of the freezer had frozen water all the way down the back and onto the top of the bottom tray. I cleaned it all up and in less then two hours it had started again. Fridge is now off. Could the new valve be allowing too much water? Also, the water filter replacement light is on. We have the house on the market and do not use the fridge regularly anymore. This problem started when I had to replace the feeder valve.

Gerry, This issue does sound like it could be caused by too high of water pressure and would suggest if able, reduce the flow of the water. If it continues to happen then it would be a faulty water valve. For the filter you would want to reset the light at the dispenser assembly.
