Linda E. November 23, 2012 for Model Number GE Washer model # GTWP1800DOWW Hi, We just bought this washer about a month ago. After washing a load I noticed there is a string from a sweatshirt stuck under the agitator. I've tried to work it out but it's wrapped around pretty tight. How do I remove the agitator? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Linda, The agitator will "pop" straight up and off of the agitator coupler. You will probably have to "yank" it pretty hard since it is made to fit snugly so it won't come off during a wash. Read More...
Robert T. October 09, 2012 for Model Number GE washer model GLWN 2800 DOWS The top part of my agitator is sliping. The agitator looks like part AP396515. If the whole agitator has to be replaced, how do you remove it? And will part AP396515 work in my washer? Thank you.
1 Answer Robert, you will need to replace the agitator assembly. Yes, part number WH43X10034 is the correct replacement and will fit your model GLWN2800D0WS. Thanks! Read More...
Marc September 30, 2012 for Model Number wpsr4130w1ww We recently did a load including a washable "rubbery" bathtub mat, as we have done many times before. This time, it looks like something (probably the agitator) sliced a triangular chunk out of the mat approx 4-5 inches on each side (straight, even cuts). When the load was done, water had leaked out of the bottom of the washer, and the chunk was missing. I am concerned that it might have slipped under the agitator, or somewhere else where it may be blocking the water drainage. I was unable to figure out how to remove the agitator based on previous questions, and I am not sure where else to look for the missing piece of the mat. Any suggestions?
1 Answer Hello Marc. You need to disassemble the pump and look for the mat inside the pump. Most likely, this is where you will find it. Read More...
Steve September 28, 2012 for Model Number WJSE4150B2WW Is the agitator supposed to be loose? I just replaced the coupler and it is a little tighter, but the agitator is still very loose and extremely noisy. Do I need to replace the agitator?
1 Answer Hello Steve. No, the agitator should not be loose. It sounds like you need to replace the agitator WH43X10034. Read More...
Vasant August 10, 2012 for Model Number GE WCCD2050D1WC How to remove Agitator from washer? Water leaks between transmission and Tub shield.
1 Answer Hello Vasant. Take a rope and run it under the agitator and jerk the agitator WH43X10034 upward to remove it from the unit. Read More...
Alice May 14, 2012 for Model Number GE WBSR3140 Our washer fills and spins, but does not seem to agitate. When I removed the agitator, the coupling seems to spin, but not with the agitator in place. The splines inside of the agitator seem a little worn, but not broken. Will I necessarily need to replace the agitator assembly, or are there any other likely problems that keep the agitator from turning while attached to the coupling? Also, is there a way to get the washer to agitate while the lid is open, so that I can really see what is going on when I close the lid?
1 Answer Hello Alice, My experience has taught me that even though the inside splines look OK in the coupler WH49X10042, they can in fact be stripped. They aren't stripped completely away, but enough of the "high" parts of the spline teeth will strip and you see splines, but they cannot drive a load. Read More...
Diane April 26, 2012 for Model Number WNXR2100T8WW I removed the agitator and checked the splines and bolt. The bolt was loose and the splines looked ok but the agitator still will not agitate. Sounds like a loose chain when it starts but still spins great and water drains fine. Anybody have a suggestion please ?
1 Answer Hi Diane. There is a washer agitator coupler 3" round by 3" tall with a tapered top under the agitator itself. If this is broken then it will have this affect. Part # WH49X10042. Once you have the agitator off, look to see if the hub nut part # WH2X1193 has loosened from the top of the agitator. Use loctite part # F8283401 on the threads to help keep it tight. Then look underneath the large transmission pulley nut to see if this is tight as well. If it is then you need to replace the transmission assy. part # WH38X10002. And the tub seal part # WH02X10383. Pete April 03, 2012 for Model Number ge wbsr3140d0ww After replacing the transmission assembly, the agitator seems to sit higher off the base of the tub...about a 1/2 inch or more. Is this OK? Could this cause other problems? The machine works fine until spin cycle, when it drains, sounds like the pump is continuing to pump, but does not spin. Sometimes it will after some coaxing by pushing on the belt or tub. Thanks.
1 Answer Pete, There should be a 1/4 to 3/8 inch gap between the bottom of the agitator and the tub. You may wan t to remove the agitator and check that the coupler is seated all the way down and secured tightly with the bolt. As for the spin issue, were the tub bearings in good condition or did you replace those as well? The belt WH1X2026 is it new as well? Did you properly seat the motor in the platform? 1. Set motor back on platform, with motor pulled all the way forward so locator pin is NOT seated in platform. 2. Hand start the four motor nut. 3. Push motor back so motor alignment pin drops into platform. 4. Tighten motor nuts. 5. Reconnect wire harness. 6. Apply belt tool (WX05X10102) to motor pulley. 7. Attach belt to large pulley using zip tie. 8. With belt looped on drive pulley, rotate large pulley until the belt slack is taken up. 9. Rotate pulley until belt is seated in motor grooves. 10. Remove belt tool and carefully cut off zip tie. 11. Put machine in spin for 60 seconds and then lift the lid. Ensure machine brakes to a complete stop under 7 seconds. If not, check lid switch and repeat brake check. BRAKE FUNCTION MUST BE WORKING. SERVICE TIP: MUST BE SURE BELT IS FULLY SEATED IN MOTOR PULLEY GROOVES" Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
Wendy March 24, 2012 for Model Number WPSE4200AOWW We replaced the coupler and ran a few loads last night and the agitator worked fine, except for a few times when it popped off. I got a piece of 2x4 and a hammer and wacked it a good one and the agitator stayed on. This morning when I went to do another load the agitator barely moved again. Do you think the coupler came loose? What should I do?
1 Answer Wendy, You'll need to remove the agitator, and check and replace the coupler WH49X10042 if the "splines" in the center are damaged, and make sure the screw and bolt are installed good and tight. You shouldn't have to hammer the agitator on, I wonder if you may have damaged either component using the hammer. If you have problems removing the ahgitator use a belt, strap or piece of rope, slip it under the agitator and pull up, until the agitator "pops" off the coupler. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Teri March 23, 2012 for Model Number wprb8050d The washer fills up with water but does not agitate. Sounds like it wants to but it doesnt. When I look at the plastic thing in the middle is going really slow I dont know what part to fix ?
1 Answer Hi Teri. Remove the agitator and see if the agitator coupler kit part # WH49X10042 is broken. Look carefully at the agitator assy. itself is part # WH43X10034. Thank You. Read More...
