For Ge Board Asm Main Control (Part Number: OEM21564309)

Chris for Model Number PSS25MGMBWW

I have a GE side by side model PSS25MGMBWW. It is in a second home and was working just fine but I went in a few weeks ago and noticed the water. All of the ice in the freezer had completely melted and the refrigerator was warm. (Fortunately I didn't have much of anything in it.) Anyway, the temp control for both the refrigerator and freezer was set to 0 which I quickly learned is the same as turning the cooling off. I figured out that if I adjust the freezer temp, the display for both temps will go out but the compressor starts running and the refrigerator works fine. If I close the door and open it again they both show zero, and if I cut the power off and back on they will both be at zero and the refrigerator will act as though it was set to be off. Attempting to adjust the refrigerator side temp at any time while the compressor is running will shut it down. Then I have to shut the door and reopen it, then start back by adjusting freezer temp again. My first guess was the temp control board so I replaced that but it does exactly the same thing as it was doing before. Main board or something else to look for?

Joseph, First check and clean the condenser coil and fan in the back of the refrigerator inside the compressor compartment. Then check to see that the doors close and seal properly. You're machine has a "mother board" electronic control. The board can and will Determine the amount of time needed to properly defrost the evaporator coils, The time can vary from as little as 15 minutes to as long as 45 minutes, And as little as once a week to once every 6 hours, depending on usage, door openings, temperature, and previous defrost cycles. But the temperature should remain the same on all defrost cycles. If all checks are OK and in range, then you'd need to suspect the main control board/mother board as the culprit. Intermittent problems are usually due to a loose connection or a weak circuit in the board.

Bob, Based on the description this issue may have occurred as the unit was running, power shuts off and then because the pressures did not have time to equalize and will not restart. It is also possible that the issue with the control board on the unit having been affected by the power outage.

Carrie for Model Number GSHS5KGXBCSS

Hi, my fridge stopped cooling, I had just about given up as the repairman said it could be a leak but he didn't know for sure. Everything runs, lights, fan ice maker, it just is not cooling. So after much research I read it could be the control board, so I ordered WR55X10942, we installed this evening, it is not cooling still. There is a step 2 instruction where it says I have to cut some wire, but it only applies to bottom freezer models, mine is a side by side, so that wouldn't be a bottom freezer right? And I hate to cut wires when I could send it back and get my money back if this is not going to work? Thanks for any help you might have. Trying to get this fridge going before we host my daughters wedding reception next week.....

Carrie, That instruction is for bottom freezers and certain side by sides based on the serial number when looking at the instructions. This unit will not need for any wires to be cut.

Harold, You will want to check the frost pattern of the evaporator coils. If the frost pattern is not a full even frost pattern from top to bottom and there is very little frost then this would be a sealed system issue in which you will need to have service on the unit.

Matt R. for Model Number PFS22SISBSS

Ordered this main control board WR55X10942 as replacement for our GE Profile PFS22SISBSS refrigerator. GE's instructions with the board have steps #2 and #4 that require cutting certain wires *only* for BOTTOM FREEZER models. Ours is the French Door style with the freezer on bottom. Is this what GE means by "BOTTOM FREEZER" model? It's not clear to me whether or not I need to perform Steps #2 and #4 in the written installation instructions for my unit. Thanks

Hello Matt, A french door model has the freezer mounted in the bottom of the unit so the answer to your question is yes.The instructions should be followed by cutting the wires for normal operation to occur.

Horst, This control board is the correct one for your unit and it will have extra connectors on it. It sounds like that you may have received a defective board if nothing is working at all except the lights.
