Rich, Based on your post information and description, we would have to agree with you and recommend the WR55X10942C / WR55X10942 Main Control Board/"mother board" be replaced. There"' most likely a loose solder joint or a weak spot in the foil tracers on the board, that's breaking down and causing the board to drop the voltage to all the circuits. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

Lou, A GE control board will not work in a Whirlpool machine. The first check to make is at the freezer door hinge. Check and make sure there aren't any damaged wires or loose connections at the wire harness connector at the door hinge. Then access the main control board on the back of the refrigerator. Find the P4 connector, with a multi meter check for 14 VDC across the orange/black and tan/black wires in the harness. if you have the 14 VDC,then the dispenser board is the problem WPW10372206 / WPW10372206.If you don't have the voltage, then the main control board W11088499 / WPW10446514 is the problem.

All of the lights inside my refrigerator come on, but none of the LEDs or the displays are working, the water dispenser is no longer dispensing water, none of the fans come on, the ice maker does not work, and the compressor no longer comes on. In other words, the only thing that seems to be working at this point is the light bulbs. Is this most likely the control board? What steps can I take at this point to confirm the control board is what needs to be replaced? Is AP4436216 the correct part for me to purchase, if it is the control board? I am comfortable doing anything that does not involve refrigerant. Thanks, Michael

The freezer iced up and temperature went up to 28° or so. Refrigerator side went up as well. Defrosted it and replaced the defrost heater and turned unit back on. It iced up right away. I checked voltage from the motherboard to the defrost heater at tab 2. There is no voltage on that tab. The compressor tab (1) and ice maker tab 4 have voltage. Is this a bad board? I have checked all the pin to pin according to the Service guide. Should there be voltage on TAB 2 always?

1 Answer

Hello Dave, Voltage will only appear on tab 2 when the unit cycles into defrost. The compressor will never be energized at the same time as the defrost circuit. The most common cause of a defrost issue on this design is the defrost heater WR51X10055. The defrost thermostat WR50X10068 should be tested for continuity also. The control board WR55X10942C is normally the last suspect but can also cause the defrost issue since it determines when the unit will cycle into and out of defrost.

Hello Dorey. If the water does not shut off replace the icemaker. If it is not cycling, check the temp. Has to be 0 to 5 ° to cycle properly.
