For Ge Refrigerator Main Control Board (Part Number: OEM21564309)

Ma for Model Number GE Fridge Model PSC23MSTC SS

I purchased and replaced the main control board part no WR55X10942 due to problem with ice and water dispenser. Upon installation of new board, the fridge started working by dispensing both ice and water, but after 24 hours, the freezer compartment keep the temperature at set point, but the fridge side is still at 54 deg F. the board is not exactly the same as the one before, but it is the replacement part for this fridge. Is it possible that I have a bad temperature sensor or something else? Any guidance will be appreciated.

Hello MA. You will need to check and make sure your serial number does not match those on the instruction sheet. If it is good, you will need to look for either a damper issue or a defrost issue with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Mankain, If the other controls are working on the display the issue will be the temp control board.

John, Based on the post information you shouldn't need the main control board WR55X10942C. You do want to check the wiring harness at the freezer door lower hinge, make sure there aren't any loose connections or damaged wires. Then replace the dispenser control board assembly WR55X10298 if all's OK.

Tom for Model Number PSS26MGPAWW

12 months ago my GE Profile stopped cooling... I unplugged, cleaned coils and it worked again. 6 months later same thing... I unplugged, cleaned coils and it worked again. 3 months later I simply unplugged for 24 hours (coils were clean), plugged it in and it worked for approx. 12 hours. Now it's blowing warm air again. Could this be the mother board? Since it was making "white" ice before it went down I assume it isn't a leak in the sealed system. Any ideas?

Len, You will want to check the evaporator coils to make sure that there is not heavy ice build up on the coils. Also check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is running. If there is heavy frost build up then you will want to test the defrost thermostat, sensor and defrost heater. The sensor should have a resistance of 42.2K ohms at room temp, 14.4K ohms at 37 degrees and 5K ohms at 77 degrees. The heater and defrost limiter should have continuity and if there is no continuity then the part is bad and would need to be replaced. If there is an even frost pattern but the fan is not running then test for voltage at the fan motor. This fan is a DC fan and would have 13 vdc from white to red wire. If all this checks ok then it would most likely be the main board but recommend checking other components first.
