The Sump Filter and Cover is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It filters out food particles and debris from the water during the dishwashing cycle, preventing the particles from recirculating and depositing on dishes. The cover ensures that the filter stays in place and also aids in the proper flow of water through the dishwasher.

A well-functioning sump filter and cover are vital for maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of your dishwasher. Over time, the filter can become clogged with food particles and debris, which can reduce the effectiveness of your dishwasher.

Symptoms of a bad Sump Filter and Cover include:

  • Poor cleaning results
  • Visible debris on dishes after washing
  • Water not draining properly
  • Unusual noises during the dishwasher cycle

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Sump Filter And Cover (Part Number: OEM13454064)

Curtis for Model Number PDW7880J01SS

I see this replacement part I received from AppliancePartsPros (sump filter and cover) is somewhat different from the original part, an improvement over the original design I assume. The replacement part comes with a gasket. There was no gasket with the original part. When I try to install new filter with the gasket, I can't get the filter to lock into place. I don't want to push too hard fearing I might break something. Without the gasket, the filter locks securely into place and fits tightly against the coarse filter (which is metal, not plastic, in my dishwasher). Is it okay to install the filter without the gasket? Thank you.

Curtis, as the manufacturer has designed the new sump filter cover WD22X10077 to be utilized with the gasket, it would be recommended that all parts included with the filter be used.

Doug, the fine filter screen should sit on top of the sump filter and the drain port of the fine filter is supposed to drain into the opening at the top of the sump filter. The spray arm and fine filter assembly are supposed to hold the sump filter in place based on the diagrams.
