Nicholas May 18, 2012 for Model Number PCG23NJMFFWW I have a problem with my refrigerator the temperture is not right and one friend told my that if the you can stop the blade fan with a scredriver while turning, whithout make damage to it,the motor fan have problem and I must replace it. It's true?
1 Answer Hello Nicholas. No, that is not the way to test the fan motor. Here is a link to our Repair Forum, this is a free service to our customers. Jim March 25, 2012 for Model Number ZISW480DMC Greatings! I have a fan (AP3884333) behind a compressor in the upper service compartment in a GE Monogram built-in that has begun to intermittently make noise. It sounds like a bearing is going on the fan motor (AP4265957). I am assuming it needs to be replaced. I have three questions: First, can only the motor be replace or do the blade and bushings need to be replaced at the same time and Second, it REALLY looks like the compressor in front of it needs to be removed. I have a hard time believing that a replaceable part like the fan motor will require the purge and replacement of the refrigerant in the system. The final question is: If the compressor does need to be pulled and the refrigerant replaced as are there any other serviceable parts that tend to go that I should replace while I'm in there? The refrigerator has been in service for seven years (Installed Summer 2005). Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Jim. To Remove the Fan WR60X10209 1. Extend the chassis. The machine compartment is located on the top of the unit and has a movable chassis that can be extended from the front of the unit to provide access to the refrigeration system components. Caution: Avoid kinking the refrigeration lines when sliding the chassis out and back in. To extend the chassis: 1. Remove the grille panel by removing 2 screws from each side 2. Remove the wire guard and rocker switch panel. 3. Remove the condenser baffle. 4. Loosen 2 (7/16-in.) track bolts from the front of the chassis track. 5. Remove 2 (7/16-in.) rear track bolts and the spacers under the rear of the chassis track. 6. Pull the chassis forward until it reaches the stops in the tracks, working the refrigeration tubing as you pull the chassis out. When sliding the chassis back into position, be certain the lines and wiring have not fallen behind the chassis. Use the grille screws for adjustment when realigning the grille. 2. Pull the blade off the motor shaft. 3. Cut the wire tie securing the fan wiring to the fan bracket. Caution: Fan connector can be separated into 3 segments (center, left side, and right side). Disconnect the fan connector at the center only. 4. Disconnect the fan connector. 5. Feed wiring through the hole in the fan shroud. 6. Remove 2 screws, top section of fan bracket, and motor. Hope this helps. Read More...
Km R. March 21, 2012 for Model Number PSI23SGMC BS Is there a video or some instructions on hot to unplug the fan to test it or to replace the fan. Again, it's sort of a vigrating & rattling sound and it mostly makes that noise when i open and close the refrigerator door. Please refer to my previous question which you have already provided some answer. Thanks, KM
1 Answer Hi KM R. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. At the main control board find the J 2 connector. Then you put the black meter lead on the J 2 - pin 3 white/silver wire. Then put the red meter wire on the red wire of the connector. J 2 pin 5. Make sure that you have 12 vdc coming out of the main board when the unit is in the normal cooling mode. The yellow wire to the motor is a sign wire that sends frequency pulses back and forth to the board to keep the motor running at a speed desired and needed for the freezer cavity. This board terminal post can only be tested from a meter with frequency measuring capability. If the fan is shorted then the main board needs to be replaced. Un hook the J-2 connector at the board. At the white and red wire, you should have 1.5-3k ohms for a good winding. If not then you need the condenser fan part # WR60X10209. The main board is part # WR55X10942C. Thank You. Read More...
Km R. March 17, 2012 for Model Number PSI23SGMC BC My refrigerator is make a rattling noise and it sounds like it's coming from the fan in front of the compressor ? Can you please help me figure out the problem and recommend which parts I might need to fix the issue? Thanks, KM
1 Answer Hi Km. You can remove the 6-back cover screws. If you unplug the fan motor and the noise disappears, then the fan needs replaced part # WR60X10209. It will make a noise during the start of a failure. Make sure that you user a shop vac and a coil condenser cleaning brush to clean the coils. Part # TJ103. Thank You. Read More...
Chad October 10, 2011 for Model Number GSS25JF I checked power on my condenser fan plug coming from the fridge you all suggested checking the blue wire....all my plug has is 2 red wires going into one socket, 2 white wires going into one socket and a yellow into one socket. my motor has a red, white, yellow and blue....i have 13.5V DC on red and white and 13.5V DC.
1 Answer Hello Chad. You will need to test the main board. Here is a link to our Repair Forum, this is a free service to our customers. Use this link to access the repair for your question. Chad October 10, 2011 for Model Number GSS25JF I checked voltage on condenser motor plug with motor plugged up i have 13.5V DC on the red and yellow and 13.5V DC on the red and white but motor still does not run...as i said before motor is new....any chance it is the control board?...Thanks for any help.
1 Answer Hello Chad. If blue is dead, then the control board WR55X10942C is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Chad October 10, 2011 for Model Number GSS25JF I have 13.5V DC at condenser motor plug, I replaced fan motor but motor still does not run....Help please.
1 Answer Hello Chad. Check and make sure the voltage is still there. If so, and the fan motor does not run, you may have a bad connector to the motor, or a bad motor WR60X10209. Hope this helps. Read More...
Dan September 29, 2011 for Model Number GSS25SGMD BS I have power to the fan motor AP4265957. But the motor will not kick on. What part do I need to replace?
1 Answer Hello Dan. If there is power to the fan motor, but it does not run, you will need to replace the fan motor WR60X10209. Hope this helps. Read More...
Dan September 19, 2011 for Model Number GSS25SGMD BS The fan located in the back of the cabinet (condenser fan) does not work, cabinet is very hot. Freezer temperture is climbing higher (20 degrees). Would a replacement fan motor correct the problem?
1 Answer Hello Dan. Yes, if the fan motor WR60X10209 is not running, then the unit will not cool properly. If there is power coming to the motor, and it does not run, you will need to replace the fan motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Tom G. July 26, 2011 for Model Number gsh25sgress why does my refer make a hoooooooooo! sound off and on? It runs like this for long periods of time and then will stop. Its really becoming annoying. Could it be the evapotator fan motor?
1 Answer Tom, Yes, it could be the evaporator fan, WR60X10185 making the noise. The fan spped is controlled through the sensors and the "motherboard" and can make noises when it has started to fail. You're sure the noise is from the evaporator fan(in the freezer compartment) because the condenser fan motor works on the theory( in the back bottom of the fridge) Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
