Cb July 25, 2017 for Model Number RGB745WEHCWW Need to replace oven igniter (will be getting igniter #WB2X9154) on my Hotpoint oven. Never did this before and scared, especially around gas/electric, but I can't afford a professional. I'm specifically unsure of splicing the wires from the old igniter on to the new igniter. I've never done that before. I'm a handy lady, but I'm afraid of getting this wrong (don't want to blow myself up). No matter how many repair videos I watch on this repair, they never show the steps up close enough for me to be confident about what I will encounter when I do this. I'm resolved to do this so could you give me any advice in doing this repair? I'm afraid to even turn off the gas behind the stove because I've never done that before. Our house is over 60 yrs. old and I'm afraid of loosening the gas connection just by turning it off. No, I've never smelled gas from behind the stove, but it kind of freaks me out. Can you tell me what size tools I should use? Any advice or help would be appreciated. Sorry about so many questions, but like I said, I can't get this wrong. Thanks!
1 Answer CB, If you turn off the power to the unit, you would not need to turn off the gas but is best to do. For this you will need either a phillips head screwdriver or 1/4" nut driver to remove the igniter. Once you remove the oven bottom remove the igniter and cut the wires. Strip the wires down from the end about a 1/4" to 1/2" and wire nut the new igniter to the existing wires. then reinstall. Read More...
Fran February 16, 2017 for Model Number kennmoore 790713423706 After my wife preheated the oven, there was a puff and soot blew out from under the broiler diffuser. There was also a nasty burned plastic smell. Did the igniter blow, and why was the broiler igniter functioning as the oven was on?
1 Answer Hello Fran. It is possible it blew out. The broil is used whenever your preheating the unit. If the ignitor will not come on now, you will need to replace the ignitor. Read More...
Gerald December 22, 2016 for Model Number JGRS14BEW3BB HELLO TO YOU. MY QUESTION, IS, I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY IGNITION ON MY OVEN AND IT KEEPS GOING OUT AFTER IT COMES ON (F3) IS THAT SAYING I NEED A IGNITION. IT GLOWS BRIGHT ORANGE THANKS
1 Answer Hello Gerald. Open or shorted sensor (circuit). Could be a result of contamination on terminals or pinched wire in sensor circuit, cold solder joint on control. • Disconnect power to range and remove sensor from oven (disconnect at connector block) • Measure sensor resistance at control connector (take care not to damage terminals in block) - Should read 1100W at room ambient (approx.72°F). Measure each sensor lead from connector block to ground. If shorted, look for pinched or cut wire in sensor circuit. • Check connector terminals - Look for deformed or corrosion on terminals. Repair or replace. • If all above is OK replace control. Read More...
Jim In Reno December 20, 2016 for Model Number JGBP26WEV4WW I'M sure my oven igniter is defective. I watched your video on how to replace.. Before I order the replacement part I took the bottom out of my oven to take a look. The igniter is on the back of the burner tube with the mounting screws under the igniter on an angle pointing down toward the metal plate that separates the burner area from the storage drawer. I assume that I must remove the burner tube to install the new igniter then re-install the burner tube. Please confirm. Thanks.
1 Answer Jim, It is not completely necessary to remove the burner tube to remove the igniter but it is definitely best to because if you hit the new igniter against anything it could potentially be damaged. Remove the burner to make this repair. Read More...

Michael August 15, 2016 for Model Number GE JGB916 My oven is GE JGB916. It doesn't work on Bake but it works well on Broil. I checked the Ignitor, it blows brightly. It sounds no gas out because I can't smell gas. What is the problem? Pls help. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Michael. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Char July 06, 2016 for Model Number JGBP30BEA1WH My oven cooks uneven. On the bar there is a big flame when it first comes into the oven and then as it travels forward on the bar towards the oven door it gets smaller. Could the bar just be clogged or dirty?
1 Answer Hello Char. Try cleaning the burner and the orifice in the unit. If the issue continues, you may need to replace the gas valve in the unit. Read More...
Erin June 22, 2016 for Model Number JGBP26WEA1WW My broiler lites but the oven does not. How do I know if I need to get a "round" or "flat" ignitor?
Bob May 21, 2016 for Model Number 66575173302 Bake oven will lite and then go out as soon as it lites, broiler will lite and stay lit.
1 Answer Bob, The most likely cause for the units bake to shut off right after it comes on would be a weak solenoid in the oven safety valve which would be part number WPW10293048. Read More...
