Dave May 26, 2013 for Model Number GE Wall Oven: JKP13GP My GE Electric Oven suddenly started cooking at way too low a temperature - about 1/2 the set temperature (set to 400 degrees, it cooks at about 200). Otherwise everything works normally (electronic keypad works normally, cycles element to hold temperature). About the same time it stopped working, there was a lightning strike/power surge near our house that affected some other electronics, but don't know if this could be related. What could be the problem? Sensor or Control Board? thank you!
1 Answer Hello Dave. Check and make sure both elements are working in the unit. If so, you will need to test the sensor and see if it is good. If so, you need to order and replace the control board on the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Diner. This depends on the type of appliance you have. For the most part, when an appliance has an issue with a part, an error code will apper to tell you the issue. Read More...
Serge May 02, 2013 for Model Number GE JSP31GP The PF code comes on when cooking in the oven...sometimes it comes on and sometimes not.
1 Answer Hello Serge. Look for loose connections. If none are found, then the clock WB27K5068 is bad. This part has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Read More...
Wayne April 25, 2013 for Model Number JKP14WOP3WG If I set my oven to to a temperature, it heats to about 100 degrees and quickly "dings" as if the temperature was reached. Thinking that the problem might be the temperature probe, I pulled it out to measure the resistance. However, it is spliced rather than plugged into the connecting wires. Does this indicate that it has been previously replaced?
1 Answer Wayne, If the splice was with a couple of porcelain wire nuts, then Yes, the temp sensor probe has most likely been replaced at one time or another. That would be the best place to start as well, Check the resistance of the sensor (1050 to 100 ohms resistance at room temperature) and check to make sure the spliced wires and porcelain wire nuts are tight. Rob April 16, 2013 for Model Number ge spectra xl44 My oven comes on and heats up but doesn't maintain the heat. Would that be a sensor issue?
1 Answer Hello Rob. You can test the sesor. At room temp, it should read around 1100 ohms and at 350° should read around 1650 ohms. Read More...
Mike H. April 10, 2013 for Model Number jgbp26weh1ww Oven preheats up to temperature but then shuts off, but not all the time. When it does shut off I reset it at a higher temp and it usually stays on. Any ideas? Thanks for your time.
1 Answer Hello Mike. Test the sensor. Should read around 1100 ohms at room temp and 1650 ohms at 350°. If it is good, replace the control on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Brenda S. April 10, 2013 for Model Number JKP26GOP4BG Causes for top oven not getting hot at all. The broil and bake both not getting hot and if you will be nice enough to tell me how old this oven is. The serial number is FL656883Q.
1 Answer Hello Brenda, On the upper oven, this can be caused by a bad control board WB27K5190 or a bad temperature sensor WB21X5301. The control is more likely the issue since the control is designed to give a fault code should the temperature sensor fail. As far as the date goes, our resource is quoted as follows: This product could have been manufactured on multiple dates. Personal assistance will be needed to date the product more accurately. This product could have been manufactured March of 1982 or 1994 or 2006. Read More...
John April 07, 2013 for Model Number jgbp79aev4aa My oven will not ignite. Does the oven sensor have anything to do with it?
1 Answer Hello John, This is normally caused by a bad ignitor WB2X9154. The sensor WB21X5301 can only keep the unit from igniting if it is telling the control that the bake compartment is too hot already. Read More...
Kay March 10, 2013 for Model Number JSP26GOP4WH I turn on the oven to pre-heat....it comes on and will reach 100 degrees then shut off on its own or it will start to heat up and just shut off on its own. If it reaches the desired temp, it will shut off in the middle of my baking. I tried replacing the element, and that did not resolve the issue. It happens on broil mode as well. This problem first appeared after I self cleaned the oven. The range was purchased in 1994 or 1995 and is an electric slide in range. What part do I need to replace? What is the proper part number? thanks
1 Answer Hello Kay. Test the temp sensor in the unit and make sure it reads around 1100 ohms at room temp and 1650 ohms at 350°. If so, you will need to order and replace the control on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. L Howe February 20, 2013 for Model Number Spectra XL 44 After turning the oven on it doesn't ignite for a minute or two, then when it does light it pops and blows the oven door open from too much gas. Is this a problem with the sensor or the igniter?
1 Answer Hello L Howe. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
