Jones April 04, 2013 for Model Number gcg21iemafbb Hi, I have a GE gcg21iemafbb and the damper has failed. Upon inspection the flap is broken. This looks like a poorly designed part (the black flap). Has the replacement part in the damper assembly been improved? Also, what us the the warranty on the part? Thanks.
1 Answer Jones, The manufacturer came out with the refrigerator damper assembly WR49X10091 to replace the original damper but we are unaware of any physical changes to the damper. Read More...
Shirley S March 28, 2013 for Model Number GE GSS25SLSMF BS The food is freezing in my refrigerator... I am trying to remove the damper to check it. I have unscrewed the light fixture but I can't budge the damper from the back wall of the fridge.. Could you tell me how to remove it?
1 Answer Shirley, The bottom part of the duct assembly has a cover that you have to pop off. Once off there are 2 screws behind it that you have to remove in order to get the duct assembly out to check damper. Read More...
Todd March 18, 2013 for Model Number PSC25MSTASS Refrigerator Refer wall sweats. Temp set at 35 on refer side an 0 on freezer side. Rear of freezer has no build up of ice. The ice used to melt and leak down in freezer and form a icicle. I replaced the 240 defrost limiter and 241 temp sneer in rear wall of the freezer side. Refer side never goes below 39 and goes up to 42. Freezer side drops to minus 2. What should I do? Thanks for your time. Todd
1 Answer Hello Todd. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the door seals on the unit are leaking and bad and will need to be replaced. It is getting warm air from outside the unit. Read More...

Ralph B February 15, 2013 for Model Number GE GSS25LGPA BB The unit is freezing produce in the refrigerator section. Turning the unit down to a 1 didn't help. Is it the temperature sensor? I have ordered one from you but don't know where it is located in the unit.
1 Answer Hello Ralph, You will want to check the damper door to make sure that it is not broken or stuck open. To access damper door you will have to remove the light shield and remove screws holding assembly in place. At the bottom of the air duct assembly there is also a cover that you will remove and there are 2 screws behind it. Remove the duct assembly and on the left side will be the damper WR49X10091. Check the door as this would most likely be the problem Read More...
Robert S. January 27, 2013 for Model Number PSHS6YGXCDSS GE SIDE BY SIDE The dispenser panel (located in freezer door) does not light . The ice or water dispenser do not work. If I press HOME, it lights and allows me to change settings. The home light then goes off and all is dark again. The freezer and frig. all work.
1 Answer Robert, A couple of things to check, First, Check the dispenser wire harness at the freezer door hinge, make sure there are no loose connections in the harness connector. You'll need to dismantle the dispenser and access the display board J4 connector, between red and black wires on J4 at dispenser board you should read 12 to 14 VDC on a multi meter across the wires. If you have the voltage then you'll need the display board WR55X10793 If the voltage is not present, you'll need to check the wires back to the "mother board" and test the DC voltage on the J4 connector there WR55X10956. Harold January 15, 2013 for Model Number pss25sgmb bs Food is freezing in our refrigerator. I tore it apart and found the damper was broken off from the little motor that changes airflow. The pictures (426) show covers but not the motor with the damper flap. Is this part included?
Stephen January 14, 2013 for Model Number GSS25XSRESS After reading thru the questions that were posted I took the damper out of my fridge only to find that the damper is in the "closed" position. I am still experiencing freezing of the lower levels in the fridge so I suspect that the problem is the thermistor. Am I correct in this conclusion? The other thing I want to make sure of is whether the damper is functioning correctly, how would I test this.
1 Answer Hello Stephen, You can test the thermistors for resistance. Here are the readings you should have for thermistor: 0 degrees/42.5Kohms, 37 degrees/14 Kohms and 77 degrees/5kohms. Outside these readings means that the thermistor is faulty. You can test the damper by holding thermistor in hand it should warm thermistor enough to cause damper door to open. If you take a piece of ice and put on thermistor it should get cold enough to close damper. Read More...
Rose November 17, 2012 for Model Number PSS25MGNACC I'm trying to replace the damper and fan assembly. Instructions that come with the assembly do not tell how to remove the old assemply. It just says "remove, saving the screws." I have the cover off the light and unscrewed those screws. And I removed the temp knob and "Deli Fresh" cover thinking I would find some screws behind the cover to release the D&F assembly. But I don't find any screws. How do I get the bottom of the old D&F assembly to release? There appears to be a similar question when I google but I can't find that question and answer on your site. Thanks for any help you can provide.
1 Answer Hello Rose, At the bottom of the duct assembly there is a cover that has to be removed. When you remove the cover there are 2 screws behind it that have to be taken out. Read More...
