Ron, With the unit not switching from water to crushed or cubed ice you will want to check to make sure that the dispenser control is not locked. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds and then try to change the controls and see if the unit will dispense. If not then the dispenser control would appear to be faulty and need to be replaced. The part number for the dispenser control is WR55X10304.

Joe for Model Number PSS26SGPA

My refrigerator temp. gets as low as 31 degrees F. over night. I have raised the temp from the factory setting of 37 to 39 degrees and nothing changes. I noticed that the 3.0 LBS. light on the Express Thaw setting stays on all the time. I have followed the oweners manaul instructions and have set the Express Thaw setting to where no light is on. I close the door and reopen the door and the 3.0 LBS. light is on again. Is this light suppose to stay on or is it my problem. The Freezer is set to factory settings and falls to -2. Thank you.

1 Answer

Joe, The freezer setting to -2 would not be an issue as there is a +/- 5 degree normal fluctuation for the freezer compartment. The express thaw light coming on would be an issue but would not cause the refrigerator setting to get to 31 degrees as there should only be a +/- 3 degrees for the refrigerator. Since the setting of the express thaw keeps coming on then there would be an issue with the user interface WR55X10390 but you will want to check to make sure that the damper door in the refrigerator compartment is does not have a broken door or staying open. Check the thermistors for resistance for the refrigerator compartment. At 37 degrees the resistance should be 14.4K ohms. At 77 should be 5K ohms and at 0 should be 42.2K ohms. If outside the range then the thermistor would need to be replaced.

Chris, The damper assembly part number is WR49X10091. You will want to also check the rear wall of the freezer to ensure that there is no frost build up on the back wall. If there is then you will need to check for continuity of the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If either do not have continuity then it will need to be replaced. Also check the resistance of the defrost thermistor. The resistance value should be 42.5K at 0 degrees, 14.4K at 37 degrees and 5K at 77 degrees. If these check ok then replace the main board.
