Ron H January 15, 2014 for Model Number GE / GSS25LGPA BB 2 problems- can't change from water to crushed or cube ice. Now won't dispense anything. I can hear a solenoid click but no water.
1 Answer Ron, With the unit not switching from water to crushed or cubed ice you will want to check to make sure that the dispenser control is not locked. Press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds and then try to change the controls and see if the unit will dispense. If not then the dispenser control would appear to be faulty and need to be replaced. The part number for the dispenser control is WR55X10304. Read More...
Chris C January 05, 2014 for Model Number PSS25NGNA BB The refrigerator side is too cold regardless of what we set the temps at. I troubleshot and found out the damper door was broken at the lower pin that connects to the actuator. I intend to attempt to epoxy the door and see if I can repair it. If I cannot, is it possible to buy only the damper door itself vice purchasing the entire damper door assembly, fan and motor actuator (part number WR49X10091)? Thanks in advance! Chris
1 Answer Hello Chris. No, the only way to repair the issue, is to order and replace the assembly. Read More...

Rick November 15, 2013 for Model Number gss25lsmf bs Need help getting to damper control assembly on GE refrigerator. Food freezes in refrigerator half of unit. If this item is broken, I will order new one. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Rick. The gasket is the correct size and will compress. The spout piece will go into the damper side of the assembly. 1. Remove light shield... more and rear light bulb from the top tower of the refrigerator. 2. Pull top two shelves out approximately two inches. 3. Pull tower assembly with both hands. Push tower right then left to expose screws. Remove screws. 4. Remove air duct by pulling straight back. Some models have complete horseshoe, some models have air duct on either side of light, and some models do not have an air duct. 5. Remove filter housing cover. Press in left side and pull straight out. Remove light assembly by removing four to eight screws (depending on model). 6. Remove existing damper assembly. 7. Install new damper assembly wr49x10091 8.. Reinstall all parts. When reinstalling light shield, screw in frame on one side, then position aluminum light housing, and finally screw in other side of frame. When reinstalling air duct, hold up duct in its proper grooves, then slide duct backwards. Make certain air duct tabs go in slots as shown. Read More...
Susan R November 05, 2013 for Model Number psc23ngnaww I ordered this for my appliance and this new replacement part is showing to have too thick of a gasket for that AND the spout that comes with this new one to fit on my refrigerator. I would like some installation instructions on how this is supposed to work on my appliance. And I would also like to know if this spout piece that came with the kit is necessary.
1 Answer Susan, Below are instructions for replacing the damper assembly. The gasket is the correct size and will compress. The spout piece will go into the damper side of the assembly. 1. Remove light shield and rear light bulb from the top tower of the refrigerator. 2. Pull top two shelves out approximately two inches. 3. Pull tower assembly with both hands. Joe October 06, 2013 for Model Number PSS26SGPA My refrigerator temp. gets as low as 31 degrees F. over night. I have raised the temp from the factory setting of 37 to 39 degrees and nothing changes. I noticed that the 3.0 LBS. light on the Express Thaw setting stays on all the time. I have followed the oweners manaul instructions and have set the Express Thaw setting to where no light is on. I close the door and reopen the door and the 3.0 LBS. light is on again. Is this light suppose to stay on or is it my problem. The Freezer is set to factory settings and falls to -2. Thank you.
1 Answer Joe, The freezer setting to -2 would not be an issue as there is a +/- 5 degree normal fluctuation for the freezer compartment. The express thaw light coming on would be an issue but would not cause the refrigerator setting to get to 31 degrees as there should only be a +/- 3 degrees for the refrigerator. Since the setting of the express thaw keeps coming on then there would be an issue with the user interface WR55X10390 but you will want to check to make sure that the damper door in the refrigerator compartment is does not have a broken door or staying open. Check the thermistors for resistance for the refrigerator compartment. At 37 degrees the resistance should be 14.4K ohms. At 77 should be 5K ohms and at 0 should be 42.2K ohms. If outside the range then the thermistor would need to be replaced. Read More...

Chris A. June 19, 2013 for Model Number pshs6tgxcdss Refrigerator side is not cooling,do I need to change the damper assembly? What's the part #?
1 Answer Chris, The damper assembly part number is WR49X10091. You will want to also check the rear wall of the freezer to ensure that there is no frost build up on the back wall. If there is then you will need to check for continuity of the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If either do not have continuity then it will need to be replaced. Also check the resistance of the defrost thermistor. The resistance value should be 42.5K at 0 degrees, 14.4K at 37 degrees and 5K at 77 degrees. If these check ok then replace the main board. 1 Answer Hello Ted. Test for power to the temp panel. If it is there, replace the board. If there is no power, then the main control is bad on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
