The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. As a key component in the refrigerator's water delivery system, the inlet valve is responsible for controlling the flow of water from the main water line into the refrigerator. It precisely regulates water pressure and quantity to ensure optimal performance of the ice maker and water dispenser.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include mineral or sediment buildup interfering with water flow, wear and tears to seals or internal components, or damage from freezing.

Symptoms of a bad valve include:

  • Slow or inconsistent fill times for the ice maker or water dispenser
  • Odd sounds or grinding noises coming from the valve area
  • Water leaks in or around the valve
  • The ice maker or water dispenser failing to operate properly or at all

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore refrigerators.

Hello Paul, you are correct, your model does not have a factory installed water filter. You could install a universal in line filter 4392945 that you can mount on the back of the unit. Hope this helps!

Hello Edwin, Dis-connect the unit from the power supply to prevent electrical shock or death. Turn the water supply off to the unit. Remove the water supply line from the back of the unit. Remove the rear bottom cover if necessary and remove the water valve mounting screws, (1/4 inch hex). Holding the new water valve beside the old one, transfer the water lines and power connections one at a time from the old one to the new one. Reconnect the water supply and turn the water back on. Check for leaks. If no leaks are present, remount the water valve to the cabinet of the unit and reinstall the rear bottom cover. Plug the unit back in and the job is complete.

Hello Latrunda. Test and see if the water continues to come out of the water valve after the power is off. If so, you will need to replace the water valve WR57X10050. If there is still power there, and the icemaker overfills, you will need to replace the icemaker in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hi. Check under the Fzr. door for the connection there, part # WR02X11330... Has it come undone ? Back into the fresh food crisper section. Behind it are the water lines that6 are coiled together that stores the cold water part # WR17X11324. Ar4e they broken ? Are they frozen ? All this needs checked before you see if the water valve part # WR57X10050 needs changed. Use the volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to check the water valve as you ask for water out of the front. Check the micro-0switch part # WR23X10783 behind the actuator paddle. You can jump out this switch to see if it is defective..Make sure the fountain control board part # WR55X23210. Thank You.

Hi Federman. You may need to replace both water valves part # WR57X10050. You also need to check both supply lines have strong water pressure coming to the valves. Flush them out in a bucket. Make sure the lines are not kinked, keeping the water valve slightly open. The water vale needs 20-120 #'s /pressure to keep them closed. Make sure the door chute flappers close tightly. Make sure the door seals are sealing well. Open one at a time to tape the door switch shut and then get a complete birds eye view of the seals. It will show light also if not correctly sealed. Thank You.
