The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Hello Craig. The wiring diagram shows the blk. (common) is the negative post (if marked). The SB (silver/ w/ blue stripe) is the positive (if marked). If the terminal spades are different sizes, then match them with the pump terminals. In this instance the motor will run either way but you can also follow the common blk. wire that is hooked on the drain pump and follow where the blk. wire should be hooked to the recirculation pump. The wiring diagram did not supply with the wire color legend so I hope this is helpful. Please let us know if this served you well. Thank you.

Hi Don. Yes, The drain pump is at fault with the OE - Code. Part # 4681EA2001T. The LG washers are amongst the most challenging units to access interior parts. If you are patience enough and can reach in from the back, you can successfully change the drain pump. You remove the power always. Or you will remove the top, soap dispenser, console, door and front panel. This by way of loosening the front of the boot, and the door switch. Thank You.

Pat, you've already found your issue, you most likely have something in the drain pump( paper clip, needle, pin, etc.) I doubt the noise is from the recirculaton pump, Thanks and Good Luck

Hi Tom. You will need to remove the top. There are screws in back bottom of the hinge that will help. Then focus on the removal of the dispenser and all front panel screws. Open the door and look up to see if there ant screws hidden there. Pop off the front control panel and unhhook the electrical connectors. Then remove the door boot ring holding the boot to the outer door. Remove the screws holding the door switch. Remove the upper panel screws. Un hinge the front panel pulling it towards you from the top. Then lift the panel up/off the cabinet. The pump is accessible then. You will need a shop vac and a dozen towels because even empty the water is great. The pump part # is 4681EA2001T .Thank you.
