The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Hello Anis. With this being a Canadian model, we do not have any parts for this unit. The part number you questioned about is for the US model. It will not work on your unit. Sorry.

Teri for Model Number LG WM2301H

My front loader is going through the drain and spin cycle fine, however, not all the water is getting pumped out. No error code is showing at the end of the cycle, but my laundry is still quite damp. After doing 2 loads, I emptied about a quart of water from the little hose next to the drain filter on the bottom left. I have checked the filter and it is clean. I watched your video and took the washer apart to get to the pump, it was full of water and debris. While researching the part, I put a bowl under the tub-to-drain hose and water has slowly been collecting in it (about 12 oz. overnight). So 2 questions; does the drain pump need to be replaced if it had water and debris in it or just cleaned? And should there still be water coming from the tub? Water to the unit has been turned off. Thanks.

Hello Teri. If the water is dirty, then it sounds like the drain pump is not working properly on the unit. If it fills with clean water while the unit is turned off, then it is a water valve issue.

Hello Aaron, The drain pump is 4681EA2001T, (on the left as you face the appliance), and the recirculation pump is EAU61383518, ( the one on the right). You will need to determine which is the issue before ordering. There may just be debris in the pump area and when removed, the unit may not even need a pump.
