Marni November 09, 2014 for Model Number LG DRYER IGNITOR 5318EL3001A My question is what would cause the dryer to keep shutting off. It turns on but shuts off a few minutes later and has to heat up again, could it be a problem with the gas not distributing correctly, and possibly not the dryer ignitor. The person who has the dryer has it hooked up to a propane tank, rather than a direct gas line could that be the problem.
1 Answer Marni, The unit being hooked up to LP over natural would not cause it to shut the burner down. The most likely issue would end up being faulty gas coils on the gas valve. Read More...
Hugh October 13, 2014 for Model Number DLG8388NM A rep came out and said I need a gas valve and a new control so I should 'scrap' my dryer. It dries clothes fine but sometimes dumps raw gas through the drum and out the exhaust.
1 Answer Hello Hugh. You will need to order and replace the gas valve 5221EL2002A on the unit. Read More...
Mike July 18, 2014 for Model Number DLG5932S My dryer turn on but no heat, I just replaced a new flame sensor but the igniter it doesn't glow so what else should I check or replace next?
1 Answer Hello Mike. Test for power to the igniter. If there is power there, and it does not work, replace the igniter. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jim July 08, 2014 for Model Number LG DLG 3788 I believe I created this problem ... I was checking the voltage to the gas valve and accidently cross the leads on my volt meter a small spark resulted. So now, the dryer starts and runs fine on the air dry cycle, but whenever I set it to any heat cycle the motor starts but shuts off immediately. Realizing I more than likely shorted something out. What do you recommend that I look at first? Control Panel? Motor switch/assembly? Fuse? Thank you.
1 Answer Jim, Based on the issue, it sounds like you may have shorted out the main control board. This is based on the that the motor is running which means that the centrifugal switch is working. While the thermal fuse could be an issue, the control is more likely because when the heat circuit is turned on it is shorting the control board out. Read More...
Gail A March 27, 2014 for Model Number LG DLG2203W GAS DRYER My gas dryer is not heating up its tumbling just not getting hot. I read the manual and troubleshot the problem. The circuit breaker and fuse are good. After looking for parts for dryer all I see is an ignition part that heats the dryer. Is this the part I might need? The manual doesn't give information on how and what you might need to repair it. Thank you for your help g
1 Answer Gail, You will want to turn the dryer on and check to see if the igniter comes on. If the igniter comes on and the unit lights but then quickly goes out then the gas coils would most likely be the cause. If the igniter does not come on then the igniter is most likely the cause for failure. Read More...
Mike January 14, 2014 for Model Number dlg3788w I replaced my gas valve on this unit, but my dryer still will not get hot and the igniter still glows.
1 Answer Hello Mike. Check and see if the igniter is bad and is not getting hot enough to light the gas. Also, make sure the flame sensor is good on the unit and the gas is turned on to the dryer. Read More...
Brian K July 15, 2013 for Model Number 796.90272900 My wife was moving around the dryer to dust and the exhaust hose came off. I reattached it and now the unit is not producing heat. From the posts I've read it looks like its the Igniter. What do you think? Thanks, Brian
1 Answer Brian, That's a great place to start, igniters 5318EL3001A are very fragile, it doesn't take much to make them crack or break and of course they won't operate/glow. Read More...
Lt. Dave May 07, 2013 for Model Number 604kwju01556 Dryer starts up like normal, but some where during cycle it stops blowing hot air and cont. to run nonstop blowing cold air. If I shake the dryer back and forth it start to work normal again for a couple days. Igniter?
1 Answer Lt Dave, You should check the wiring in the unit going to the igniter and the solenoid valves. It may be a loose or broken connection. Also check the wiring for the thermostats and thermistors. Read More...
Jon December 30, 2012 for Model Number DLG5988S I have LG dryer had about 6 years now it doesen't dry much as before.
1 Answer Hello Jon. Run the unit without the vent pipe hooked to it. Make sure the blower wheel inside the dryer is clear, and has no lint build up on it. Read More...
Chirs March 14, 2012 for Model Number DLG5988B Hi. I have an LG dryer. The problem is that the ignitor turns on and then it shuts off quickly. Then the second thing is that the time setting for example when set for an hour, will run for a few minutes and then jumps down to 15 minutes. It does this on any cycle always jumping down to 15 minutes. Can some one please clue me in on whats going on?
1 Answer Hello Chris. My first guess is a weak coil on the gas burner valve assembly 5221EL2002A. I would make a few checks before ordering any parts. There are two solenoids on the gas valve. Make sure neither one is open (no continuity) or shorted (0 resistance). Also you need to make sure your exhaust isn't crimped, restricted or too long and complicated. Be aware that if you have flexible ducting and it is wadded up behind the unit, the dryer cannot operate properly. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
