Justin May 27, 2017 for Model Number DLE4870W My dryer won't heat. I've tested the safety and high limit thermostat and they both show continuity below 1 Ohm of resistance. I tested the heating element and refereed to the Tech Sheet for guidance. Between prongs 1 and 2 it shows 20 Ohms (supposed to be between 18-22). Between prongs 1 and 3 it shows 21 Ohms (supposed to be between 18-22). Between prongs 2 and 3 it shows 44 ohms and it is supposed to be between 9-11 ohms of resistance here. Due to the high ohms of resistance between prongs 2 and 3 it says to replace the heating element. Does that seem correct? Most of what I've read online is if it's below 50 ohms it should work fine. I have checked the voltage to the dryer and I am getting 120/240, so that shouldn't be the issue. Ducts are clean. Thanks!
1 Answer Justin, Based on the tech sheet saying if it is at 44 ohms then it would be best to replace the heating element. Read More...
Mindy April 04, 2017 I have a LG Model # DLE0442W Dryer that wont heat, I Replaced the Heat Assy which had the new Hi Temp Fuse and the other fuse new on it, it still did not heat so i replaced the Thermistor today and still not heating , Any thoughts on why its not heating and what could be the problem?
1 Answer Hello Mindy. You will need to test and see where your losing voltage at. It could be the motor or the control board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Jeremy February 08, 2017 for Model Number DLE3733W My dryer will not heat. It was losing heat about two weeks ago, taking a lot longer to dry clothes on hottest setting. I cleaned the vent and it needed a bad cleaning. Now the dryer is louder and not heating at all.
1 Answer Hello Jeremy, If the air flow was restricted in the duct for a long enough time, one of the high limit thermostats, 6931EL3002M or 6931EL3003D, The thermistor 6323EL2001B valve should be verified about 11700O, (11.7KO), at about 70°F. Read More...
Doug B October 22, 2016 for Model Number Lg dle5977w Dryer won't heat up. Replaced the thermal fuse. Dryer heated up and we let it run for about 15 minutes. Later in the day we added clothes to the dryer and it never heated back up. Performed a thorough cleaning of the dryer and vent all the way to the exit of the house. Any ideas??
1 Answer Doug, You would want to test the thermal fuse and thermostats on the unit to make sure that they are good. This would be the most likely causes of failure. Also check to make sure that the venting is clean and clear. If the thermal fuse on the heater is blowing then it may be the heater relay on the control board being stuck closed causing the heater to stay on. Read More...
Dave F October 15, 2016 for Model Number DLE5977B i own a LG DLE5977B, that tripped my breakers a few times. it was very hot to the touch (back panel) when it was in normal drying cycle which uses medium heat. this happened a few times, i allowed it to cool each time prior to restarting after resetting the breaker. Now it is working and not getting as hot as it was, i am running it on high and it is not tripping breaker anymore. it feels warm but i dont think it is hot as it should be on high. i have check for blockages and found none. i would expect a thermostat or sensor might be at fault possibly, what parts should i check out?
1 Answer Dave, The sensor would be the most likely cause for the unit to overheat. Also check for rollers to make sure that they are not binding which will cause a drag on he motor and cause the motor to overheat and shut off. You would want to test the thermistor and the thermostats to make sure that they are good. Read More...

Larry January 03, 2016 for Model Number LG Dryer DLE5977S / DLG5988S My dryer is taking longer than usual to dry my clothes. It's does heat up, but it's taking longer now and I'm thinking it's the heating element. What do you recommend doing first? Should I start with the sensors first before changing the element? Looking for some direction. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Larry. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Nina December 06, 2015 for Model Number LG DLEX7177RM Our lg dryer will not heat. Ducts are clear, unit is cleaned out inside. We put a new heating assembly in it that included a new thermostat and high limit switch. it runs, no errror messages but will not get warm at all??
1 Answer Hello Nina. Make sure the voltage to the unit is 240 VAC. If so, you will need to replace the main board EBR36858803 on the unit. Read More...
George A July 07, 2015 for Model Number DLE5932W I have had the dryer for 10 or more years in the same spot where it is now. It has the right voltage. I disconnected the air vent to make sure it was clogged and it still did not get heat to dry clothes. It has to be something that involves heat. Where are the heating elements located in this machine and oh yea, it gave a code of HE.
1 Answer Hello George. The element is located under the drum. You will need to remove the front panel to access and test the part. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
