Parr8hd September 18, 2014 for Model Number WT5001CW What is the RPS sensor part for this washer? Should I replace the wire harness at the same time? How often does the RP sensor typically have to be replaced? I'm considering throwing away this 2 yr old machine and buying a Samsung Please help. Very frustrated
1 Answer Hello. 6501KW2002B is the sensor. There is no need to replace the harness unless it is bad. Thanks. Read More...
Robin September 06, 2014 for Model Number WM0642HW I have put my sensor part on and reassembled everything, but my rotor does not sit totally flush over the motor assembly. I can't remember if it did to begin with when I took it off. Is it supposed to stick out from the motor assembly about a half inch? I have the center bolt tightened it seems as much as possible.
1 Answer Robin, The rotor should sit all the way over the stator on the unit and the stator should not be able to be seen. You may have to give the rotor a tap with your hand to get it all the way seated. Read More...
Greg June 19, 2014 for Model Number WM2277HW My 10 year old LG TROMM washer WM2277HW had LE error code recently. The machine would start, fill with water, never start to rotate, and then the washer would shut off and display the LE code. The tub could be manually spun quite smoothly with no noise. We have only used HE detergent (bought house last year so don't know about previous owner) however my wife did probably use more than necessary on every load in the last year. I replaced the rotor position sensor switch 6501KW2002A and it worked perfectly for about 4 loads (with correct amount of HE detergent). Now I'm back to the LE error with the same issues. Recommended next steps? Thank you.
1 Answer Greg, The LE is a locked motor error and you will want to check the following: • The connector (3-pin, male, white) in the MOTOR HARNESS is not connected to the connector (3-pin, female, white) of STATOR ASSEMBLY. • The electric contact between the connectors (3-pin, male, white) in the MOTOR HARNESS and 4-pin, female, white connector in the MAIN PWB ASSEMBLY is bad or unstable. • The MOTOR HARNESS between the STATOR ASSEMBLY and MAIN PWB ASSEMBLY is cut (open circuited). • The hall sensor is out of order/defective Read More...
Jg June 04, 2014 for Model Number WM2277 Drum is not turning- Code 1F81 or "IF81" displayed I can not find a part this correlates to-
1 Answer Hello JG. That code is not listed. Usually when this happens, it is a primary control board failure 6871ER1078T. Thanks. Read More...
Kim June 01, 2014 for Model Number Wm3987hw A couple weeks ago I had a problem with my washer during the wash cycle. It would make a grinding style noise and the tub would not spin during the wash cycle. However if I stopped it and did a rinse and spin it worked just fine. Someone suggested I needed to replace the rotary position sensor, so I ordered it from you guys and replaced it but now I have a different problem. Now the machine will go through the wash cycle but once it hits the rinse cycle now it makes the grinding noise the tub will not turn and it will not drain.
1 Answer Hello Kim, You should remove the hoses between the outer tub assembly and the drain pump to ensure there are no foreign objects obstructing the pump or preventing draining. I would also closely inspect the inside of the tub for nails, screws, similarly shaped items that can slip through a hole in the spin basket and contact the outer tub. If these are good, turn the spin basket by hand and check that there is no grinding. The motor rotor can be removed and inspected for cracked magnets and/or damages windings. Read More...
Daniel April 23, 2014 for Model Number WM2016CW When the washer it turned on and started it begins the fill cycle normally. When the drum begins to turn it sounds like there is a groaning noise coming from inside but sometimes it will not spin. It seems like it wants to spin but hits an invisible barrier and after a few minutes of trying to spin will give the Le code. Before ordering parts I pulled it apart to check both the front and rear bearings and both spin freely with no resistance or noise. This leads me to believe it is the RPS causing all of my problems. I am just concerned with the noise that the drum makes when it do actually spin. Added note: When i spin the drum by hand in either direction it makes no noise at all.
1 Answer Hello Daniel, These units tend to make a growling noise when a phase is dropped in the motor 4417EA1002F. It is a three phase motor and the loss of one phase will cause the noise and prevent the unit from going into the high speed spin. Read More...
Bell April 01, 2014 for Model Number LG WM2455HW Power on turns for less than a minute and stops. Then you hear a humming sound and nothing else after that. Not sure what to do on this. Please help.
1 Answer Hello Bell. See if the humming noise is coming from the water valve. If there is power to the valve, and no water, you will need to check the screens and if clear, replace the water valve in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rickrayfield March 19, 2014 for Model Number wm2487h*m My washer has an error that says looks like a upside down F &E Solution says unplug power & call for service. What does this mean? Cannot keep washer balanced, been like this for 3 yrs.
1 Answer Rickrayfield, The Upside down fE is an indicator that there is a thermistor error and you will want to test the thermistor resistance and check for broken wires to the thermistor. For the unbalance issue you will want to check the shocks to ensure that they are good. Read More...
Richard January 21, 2014 for Model Number WM2077CW I get a CE code after the wash completes the washing cycle and it drains out the water, and then when it begins to do the spinning cycle for the rinse the machine alarm goes off and it has the CE code on the screen. I checked for the OHM's reading on all three of the leads to the motor through my Multi Meter and it reads 8.4 OHM's. I am not sure if this is the correct reading for the motor. Could you please assist me with your knowledge as to what may be the problem, and for the solution to this problem. Thanks, I now await for your response.
1 Answer Hello Richard, The CE code indicates the following: • MAIN PWB ASSEMBLY is out of order. • Winding in the STATOR ASSEMBLY is short-circuited. If the resistance readings do not fall in the listed readings, the motor will need to be replaced: Resistance of terminal: 1-2/2-3/1-3 About 5O to 15O. If these readings are in the correct range, the main PWB EBR32816703 will require replacement. Read More...
L.G. December 20, 2013 for Model Number LG WM2277HW At wash cycle start, the tub begins filling with water. After about 2 minutes, it attempts to turn the tub one-way, then the other. As it is trying to turn, it moves a degree or two and stops as if it has met resistance. After a minute or two of this it stops and error message LE is displayed. Note-the tub does turn easily by hand, either direction. I doubt this has any bearing, but the unit makes a noise as it is attempting to turn CCW. The noise most resembles the sound of a copper water pipe system just barely turned on-like water flowing. It makes little noise as it attempts to turn CW. I've unplugged the unit and left it unplugged for 2-3 minutes and turned the tub 3-4 revolutions in each direction, with no perceivable difference in effort. This seemingly began with no warning. Update: I have now removed the rear cover and can freely turn the drum. I do see reddish/rust colored dust at the 5 & 7 o’clock positions on the metal plate, which is secured by numerous bolts to the rear of the plastic drum. I see no visible damage to rotor or stator. The stator has @ 8.5 ohms on the three wires, checking from one to another. The rotor had a very slight dust on it but otherwise appeared OK. When a cycle is started, and if I anticipate the direction the drum will turn next and start it turning by hand, it will pick up on its own. Otherwise, when it attempts to turn, it “locks down” as if held by some force (magnetic, I suppose). I do see reddish/rust colored dust at the 5 & 7 o’clock positions on the metal plate, which is secured by numerous bolts to the rear of the plastic drum. Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Hello L.G., This sounds like the motor has dropped a phase. It is a three phase motor. If one phase is lost, the motor will make a growling noise and cannot start up satisfactorily. Also, the rust colored dust is the indication of a seal leaking. This would require the replacement of the motor stator windings 4417FA1994G and the replacement of the back half of the outer tub assembly AJQ35154204. Read More...
