When you request ice, the solenoid activates, opening the ice door and permitting ice to pass through.

Symptoms of a bad Ice Door Solenoid Assembly include:

  • Ice door not opening or closing properly
  • Failure to dispense ice
  • Ice accumulating or jamming at the dispenser

Causes for a malfunctioning Ice Door Solenoid Assembly can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring, wear and tear from frequent use, or mechanical problems affecting the solenoid's ability to move the ice door.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Hello Cryton. Test for power coming to the DC motor EAU59551204. If there is power there, and the motor does not open the flap, you will need to replace the DC motor in the unit. Hope this helps.
