The Water Valve is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. This valve controls the flow of water to the refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser, ensuring a steady and regulated supply.

Causes of a bad water valve can include wear and tear over time, mineral deposits from hard water clogging the valve, electrical issues, or physical damage from mishandling. These problems can result in the valve failing to open or close properly.

Symptoms of a bad water valve include:

  • No water dispensing from the refrigerator
  • The ice maker not producing ice
  • Leaks around the valve area
  • Unusual noises when the valve is operating
  • Low water pressure or flow

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Hello Dave. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Michael. Either the valve is sticking or the icemaker is sticking and over filling. You will want to check both parts on the unit.

Clark, The only difference that I can see would be that on the new part for your water valve in the unit would have the wires physically attached to the solenoid. You will want to check to see if they can actually be disconnected and if they can be then the AJU55759303 water valve will work. If not then you will need to get 5220JB2010A.

Hello Matt, This sounds like a water line has a pinhole. You will need to pull the unit put and make sure that, when the icemaker fills, water is not leaking or spraying from a line. It is a common failure as is the water filter having a hairline crack. The water valve 5220JB2010A can be replaced individually.

Hello Jay. If it does not press in and seal and not leak, you will need to replace the water valve on the unit.

The bottom of our freezer filled with ice and froze. The leak seems to be coming from the back of the freezer, back from behind what looks like the fake back wall, not overflowing from the ice maker itself. You can see the frozen trail of water. I'm not sure if we should be replacing the ice maker, the valve, or something else. My husband says that the tube outside in the back does not seem to be frozen - what else should we be checking before pulling it all apart for the wrong part? Any help is appreciated so we know to order the right parts. Thank you.

The OEM valve does not have a blue plastic electrical connector like the valve you sent me. The red and blue wires are seperate leads with flat Stacon connectors. Unfortunately the AppliancePartsPros website does not show the electrical leads in any of the 5 photos for this part. 1. Is there a conversion kit for the refrigeration side of the electrical connection? 2. If I cut the leads on the valce I bought and it does not work can I return it for a full refund? Please advise, thanks.

Bernard, First thing, try and include a model number of the unit you're working with, it makes research a lot easier. We seriously doubt you'll have any issues changing the wiring terminals on the harness to the fill valve. But, if there is an issue, yes you will be able to return the part, and recieve a refund for the part and any applicable tax. You will be responsible for any shipping costs, but that would be all.

Hi. After an extensive research of the water valve wiring connector issue, I find no service bulletin as of date. In the field I have modified a locator tab on the unit wire harness connector to allow the connector to be pushed on the terminal fully. This is the correct part for your model #. The terminals are the same width so they are not polarity sensitive. If you need to use stake on connectors, just make sure you only strip 3/8" wire back to be able to crimp properly and not allow any extra wire strands to hang out and have a elect. short. Use the pull wire strength test to see if the wire pulls back out of the crimped connector. If it does then pay specific attn. on the crimp tool placement on the connector for the proper crimping action. We stand behind our products as warranty is listed as long as the part is not modified. Water valve part # 5220JB2010A. Thank You.
