Tyler, If the icemaker is not cycling then this will most likely be a faulty icemaker assembly especially if it will not cycle with the test button.

Jbordelon for Model Number RF 217 ACWP

My ice maker will fill with water, freeze, and during the freeze cycle it will refill again. Sometimes twice during the same cycle. The water solenoid valves seemed to be working properly. I can hear them opening and closing and they are not leaking water. I can hear them open and close multiple times during the same freeze cycle. My question is what calls for the water to fill. Is it the ice maker itself or the main circuit board. Thanks in advance.

1 Answer

JBordelon, The issue would be in the ice maker itself [DA97-07603B/DA97-07603B Ice Maker Assembly. You may want to check the CN90 connector on the main control board to make sure there are no loose connections, arc marks etc. on the control board. The more likely problem is the sensor or switch inside the control head is defective.

Dan for Model Number Samsung Refrigerator RFG298HDWP

The second ice maker in the lower freezer department is not filling the ice cube tray with water. When I press the reset button the ice maker cycles and chimes. I am trying to determine whether I need to replace the ice maker (DA97-07603B) or if I need to replace a water inlet valve. The water and ice dispenser on the door is working properly, so I know there is water getting to the water dispenser and the upper ice maker. If I need to replace a water valve, what is the part number and where is that valve located? Do you have a repair video showing how to replace the valve? Thanks!

1 Answer

Dan, The water valve part # is DA97-07827B.This part is located at the rear of unit behind the bottom cover connected to your household inlet water line. You can cycle the ice maker and check for voltage at the valve. No voltage found ice maker could be issue. If you have voltage when ice maker cycles and no fill then valve would need replaced. No repair video listed for this repair.

Nick, Normally the ice cracking will be caused by either the temperature being too cold or the tray having an issue with it. This will most likely be a temp issue and would recommend raising the temp to 0 and see if it gives better ice.

Tim, Unfortunately the only thing that would cause this issue would be that there is still an air leak somewhere on the icemaker compartment. Sealing the crack next to the wall in the ice compartment and changing seal would be the only things we are aware of to do other than making sure that the ice door is closing all the way.
