Brian February 02, 2018 for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA The water works fine, but the ice is not working. It appears to be not getting any water to make the ice, since I have no ice buildup or overflowed water anywhere in the ice maker. It is making an owl sound/pumping sound at the icemaker. The test button on the icemaker does not appear to do anything when pushed. I have no error codes either. Is this an water inlet valve or an icemaker problem?

I checked line in door going to ice maker and it is clear. I think it may be the solenoid. How can I check the solenoid? I see four wires going into it, 2 white, 2 purple. Thanks
2 Answers Hello Don, You can disconnect the water line coming out of the valve DA97-07827B to the icemaker and force a cycle to see if water comes out for about 7 seconds near the end of the cycle. 2 Answers Heather, Yes, it is possible for one of the water valve solenoids to malfunction or fail and the other to operate as designed, it's not all that uncommon. Presumably the solenoid or the diaphragm inside the water valve is malfunctioning ands allowing the water to flow longer than it should and causing the ice maker toy overflow and causes the excess water to drip into the ice bin and freeze.
