The Filter Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This component is responsible for trapping food particles and debris, preventing them from recirculating during the wash cycle and ensuring that dishes come out clean.

Causes of a bad filter assembly can include accumulated debris, regular wear from repeated use, or damage from harsh cleaning agents. A compromised filter can reduce the dishwasher’s cleaning performance and lead to buildup inside the machine.

Symptoms of a bad filter assembly include:

  • Dishes not being cleaned properly
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Slow drainage or standing water in the dishwasher
  • Visible damage or clogging of the filter

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Filter Assembly (Part Number: OEM10829328)

Hello Joyce. It sounds like to much soap or rinse aid is being used. Try running some vinegar through the unit to clean out the soap and then cut back on the amount being used.

Hello Mark. Make sure your replacing the wiring harness with the new fuses. If not, that is the reason it keeps blowing. If you have replaced the harness, you will need to order and replace the control board in the unit.

Richard A. for Model Number Jenn Air Dishwasher JDB1255AWS0

This Jenn-Air has worked fine for 5 years, and it still does today. Cleans dishes just fine but after the machine is off, within a few hours there is a puddle of clean water at the bottom of the tub. I run the rinse cycle and it is drained and clean again. I thought is was fine but the next morning a pool of water leaking out the closed door. There is a round grey colored water device in the front right tub basin that sometimes seems to be leaking very slowly, while other times it is not leaking at all. Again, I ran the dishwater 5 or 6 times to see if some dirt or debris was opening this device but to no avail. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello Richard, You should remove the inner door panel and look for water trails that would indicate where the leak is coming from. If none are evident, there is a good possibility that the leak can be from a "wave" in the water from a separating spray arm, or debris in the spray arm that would cause an uneven spray. If the water is leaking from the float for the overflow switch, this can only be caused by an over soap condition where the suds build up and are able to jump over the float tower. If the water appears to be coming from the front edge of the tub, this can be attributed to the spray arm conditions previously mentioned or an over soap condition. It can also be caused by a water valve not closing properly and creating an over filled condition in combination with a detergent build-up under the float, making it heavy and contributing to the over fill condition.

Cris, There should be four(4) screws that secure the accumulator to the sump 8193918 " 1. Remove the four (4) Torx T-20 screws securing the soil accumulator from the sump base. 2. The soil accumulator assembly will now lift free of the sump base". You're correct, you want to remove as much debris from the sump assembly as possible(especially glass) There is the potential of the debris getting pass the chopper and screen, and damaging or blocking the impeller and shaft seal.

Hello George, The feed tube will twist out of the way. The internal rear feed cap rotates to the right to about the 2 o'clock position to be removed. The feed tube can also be removed from the clips in the rear if so desired. Once the internal rear feed cap is removed, remove the screws and the accumulator assembly and you will have access to the chopper blade area of the pump. Be sure to check the chopper blade shaft for breakage. If a piece of glass gets into the chopper blade, it will break the shaft that supports it and will make noises and food particles will accumulate in the pump. This will cause a no drain situation. Be sure to let us know if any more assistance is required.

Hi John. You need to get a bucket and un hook the drain hoes at the sink connection. Put the end of the hose in the bucket and see if the water now drains fully. If so then also use a screwdriver inserted in the sink drain to see if it is clogged there... (very common). You also need to see if the drain hose has a loop into it (creating a p-trap) and mounted as high as possible to the back wall of the under the sink area. Then taught into the drain standpipe... At the other end of the drain hose there is a check flap valve part # WP8268375. If this is missing or ripped it will allow negative back flow into the tub. It is mounted at the drain hose/ pump area. Small but very effectively needed. Unfortunately if the pump impeller is spinning loose on the pump shaft then you need to replace it. Pump Part # WPW10348269. Use a wet shop vac. to remove all debris from the sump area as you remove the top filter and lay all parts aside one by one to clean under the sink and inspect them for damage. When you get to the chopper blade then this is as far as you can go. Cleaning and using Dishwasher Magic part # TJ104 monthly w/ hot water will refresh the unit to keep optimum performance levels. Thank You.

Dwayne, It's most likely a detergent or calcium deposit from the water. It could also be a grease,or food deposit due to a lower than reccomended water temperature(120 dgrs.F. at first fill of the cycle) If the water temperature is not hot enough, the enzymes in the detergent, and the oil from the food particles on the dishes will not breakdown properly, and will leave a residue,in the dishwasher. You may want to purchase a dishwasher cleaner like "glisten" or "afresh" ,etc. to remove any deposits and run a few cycles with a proper hot water temperature (120 dgrs.F.) and recheck the resukts. Thanks and Good Luck

James, There are 4(four) #20 torx screws in the top of the accumulator(around the center opening) that have to be removed before you can lift the top of the accumulator off the pump assembly. You have removed the lower rack and dis mounted the water tube from the pump/accumulator top, correct / Good Luck and Thanks
