Rut September 18, 2011 for Model Number mav6200aww maytag/atlantis washer My washer stoped spinning. When it did spin, it made a freight train loud noise and smell of rubber. Before I make a belt purchase, could this be the problem?
1 Answer Hello Rut. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the bearing kit W10219156 and the belt WP22003483 will need to be replaced to repair the washer. The bearing is the sound you were hearing and it locked down the tub assembly. Hope this helps. Read More...
Rhyrhy July 30, 2011 for Model Number MAVT634AWW My washer was working fine but has had a slight burnt rubber smell for some time now. Well as of last night, once the spin cycle hits, it will slowly spin and make a humming noise but the water does not drain. The burnt rubber smell has gotten stronger. Could this be the belt? thanks!
1 Answer Hello Rhyrhy. It could be the belt, but you will need to turn the pulleys by hand and see what is binding up the belt. It could be the pump WP35-6780, or the thrust bearing 12002213 on the unit. If the thrust bearing is releasing the brake assembly, but the tub drags, you will need to replace the tub bearing W10219156. Hope this helps. Read More...

John June 10, 2011 for Model Number Maytag MAV 6000AWW Agitation is slow with loud squealing noise and smells like the belt. What would cause the belt to fail? All other functions are working but spinning is also slow.
1 Answer Hello John. First you will want to remove the belt from the motor and make sure the motor moves freely on the slide plate. You will want to replace the belt WP22003483. Also if the motor is able to move freely, remove the cap under the thrust bearing pulley 12002213. If you find a lot of shavings in the cap you will have to replace the kit. Thanks! Read More...
Robert May 26, 2011 for Model Number mav5057aww My washer has most of the symptoms everyone else is experiencing (wont spin all the water out) but if you can catch it when it begins to spin and lift the lid and set in back down again it will spin out at the correct speed most of the time. It seems the only time it wont spin out at the correct speed is when the load is set at super large. So in short, the smaller the load the better the chances it will spin out correctly. Does something reset when you lift the lid? Please help me! Thanks for your time!
1 Answer Hello Robert! You will need to check and replace the thrust bearing kit. Your part number is 12002213. Thanks. Read More...
