Lori January 29, 2019 for Model Number mvwx655dw0 My washer spins but not fast, it tries to engage but it sounds like it is slipping. I tried replacing the belt but it didn't solve the problem. I have tried calling Maytag and they told me I would have to get a service man to come out. Please help as to what the next step I should take, as I can not afford a service call.
1 Answer Lori, if it is causing a sound like the belt is slipping, you may have some residue on the pulley that can cause the belt to not catch properly. Another thing you will want to check is to make sure that the pulley is not loose and wobbly. If the pulley is loose and wobbly, it loosens the tension of the belt and can cause the belt to slip, thereby not allowing the proper rotation of the pulley. Read More...
Allen Schwartz December 22, 2018 for Model Number NTW4516FW1 Is there a service bulletin for W10721967 Splutch melting. I have replaced mine 3 times already. I have a kennel and the unit does 8 loads a day but I see Commercial unit CAE2795FQ0 uses same part number
1 Answer Allen, there are no service bulletins listed for the splutch melting. These units are not really designed for the use a kennel demands. They are designed for the average family who may wash 1 or 2 times a day. Read More...
Kris December 01, 2018 for Model Number Maytag MVW655DWO The agitator in the machine will not agitate like it used to. The drum will spin in spin cycle. I just replaced the splotch cam but the agitator still won’t agitate.
1 Answer Kris, you should be able to put it into a diagnostic mode and pull up any error codes, you may have a error code involving the actuator. It is what shifts the splutch from spin to agitate. The tech sheet is located inside the front of the cabinet, on the left side, you can lift up the top of the cabinet to locate it. Read More...
Barbara November 11, 2018 for Model Number WTW5000DW1 My machine is not agitating or spinning. With disassembly I found the splutch cam is disengaging inappropriatly. I have recalibrated the machine, took apart the cam and it looks good, appears to be the actuator disengaging it. Is that a common thing? Do I just replace the actuator?
1 Answer Hello Barbara, one of the most common failures with this design is the splutch kit or the actuator. If the splutch is in good condition you might have to replace the actuator, thanks! Read More...

Dan B. September 08, 2018 for Model Number Maytag washer MVWX700XL2 Repair Story for Splutch Cam Kit Part Number: AP5951296 My washer: Maytag MVWX700XL2 Total repair time: 30 minutes Difficulty: Fairly easy For months, our Maytag Bravos X washer would make this horrid, almost deafening grinding and screeching noise during wash cycles. With each load of laundry, we were getting more agitated than the clothes! The belt would ride down the pulley, cutting through the plastic shield and eventually would fall off. This would happen so frequently that we eventually just left the damaged shield detached so we could pop the belt back in place quickly. This Splutch Kit was the solution to all these problems! We simply followed the clear and very helpful instructional video on this page, and in under 30 minutes our washer was running like new again! Highly recommend ordering this kit from appliancepartspros.com. The entire kit with shipping cost less than what others sell just the pulley alone for. Bravo for helping us fix our Maytag Bravos!
Jennifer Harrison July 12, 2018 for Model Number WTW5000DW1 I replaced the splutch kit , but I can't get the bolt all the way down for the part to all connect .
1 Answer Jennifer, the nut has to be tightened down or the gear will slip and make a grinding noise, have someone hold the basket while you tighten the nut, that should help. Read More...
Don Coleman Sr March 27, 2018 for Model Number ATW4675YQ1 How tight do you make the pulley when replacing the cam splotch parts. Should there be some play because of the spring in the assembly or do you take all the play out when you run the nut up on the pulley. Thank you Don Coleman
1 Answer Don, You would want to make the nut on the pulley tight and will not have it loose. You may also want to add a little bit of loctite on the threading to keep the nut from coming off. Read More...
Ralphy Parker March 16, 2018 for Model Number WTW4800XQ1 I installed a new splutch kit p/n W1072167. The new splutch makes a squealing noise when the washer is agitating. The installation was checked and it appears it was installed properly. It appears that one of the new parts is slightly out of round as there are some wear marks where the shift lever is attached to the transmission gear. The old splutch was reinstalled and the noise went away. The only difference I see between the new and old part is that the large pulley is brown and the old one was tan. I understand that Whirlpool redesigned this part awhile back. Is there a difference in the part, is the new part defective? Being plastic I made sure not to over tighten the pulley and it appears tight with no wobble. Any ideas? Many Thanks.
1 Answer Ralphy, While the manufacturer made a change to the part we do not know the specifics of it. As for the noise it sounds likely that the part may be defective and need to be replaced. Read More...
Blackvortec March 14, 2018 for Model Number Bravos x Replaced the transmission in a bravos x. The new housing has different style holes to hold the splutch housing in. Instead of 3 square holes it has 3 pipe shaped holes allowing the cover to turn in and lock. The splutch housing kept popping out. So I ordered a new one that looks different. I put it in and it almost completed a cycle. Then the housing twisted in the holes and popped back out. This keeps happening. Any ideas?
1 Answer Blackvortec, It sounds like the issue will be that the splutch housing is not being twisted into place and locking in properly. Read More...
