Enricko August 19, 2017 I have a Maytag Centennial. I replaced the capacitor based on the error code F7 E6 but I am still getting the same error and the same symptom, which is the washer is not spinning. Could the actuator be the cause?
1 Answer Hello Enricko, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend test procedures and parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Johnny July 28, 2017 for Model Number WTW5100VQ2 how do you test a capacitor? what should a good one read as opposed to a bad one? ohms or voltage test?
1 Answer Johnny, You use a resistance reading (ohms) Place the meter leads across the terminals, the display or indicator should deflect towards a "closed" circuit(infinite resistance) and drop back down to an open(no resistance) circuit, if it is good. Read More...
Ken November 14, 2016 for Model Number NTW5100XQ0 Motor humming it will run with assist to the shaft restart it same thing. Motor is on the bench, bad motor or is there a trick to free up ?
Ken November 13, 2016 for Model Number NTW5100XQ0 Washer fills and agitates, will not drain or spin, humming in motor. Took pump off motor shaft while humming I spun shaft by hand and the motor started up and ran. Unplugged electric, plugged back in, same thing. Spun shaft and motor started again. Did this several times same result capacitor ?
1 Answer Ken, The capacitor would not cause the motor to not run. This sounds like it is a faulty motor on the unit which will need to be replaced. Read More...
Charlie May 02, 2016 for Model Number mvwc6esww1 Maytag model mvwc6esww1 . Humming noise at spin cycle. Replaced driver block, worked for a bit. Humming noise came back. Washed fine and it would hum after a while then stop. Checked and replaced clutch, brakes look fine, gear case and motor run freely. Removed driver block and inner tub and now is humming at any setting. Drive tube moves slowly, motor feels a little hot. Capacitor tested fine. Is it the motor or a capacitor going bad?
1 Answer Charlie, This would be more likely a motor issue rather than a capacitor if the capacitor checked ok when testing. Read More...
Frank January 03, 2016 for Model Number 11091511100 The initial problem was that the washer would not drain. after looking into it no matter where ever I set the dial, on wash, rinse, or spin all I get when I pull the dial out is a humming sound. I took the capacitor off and tested it by applying 110 volts to the terminals and then removing the voltage and shorting between the terminals and it does pop. Sounds to me like a good capacitor. Is there something else, that I can check?
1 Answer Frank, It would be recommended to pull the pump off the front of the motor and then try to put the unit into a spin cycle and see if the motor just hums or check to see if the motor turns. If it turns then replace the drain pump which will be the most likely cause since the unit is not draining. It may have something clogged in it or is just seized up. Read More...
James December 22, 2015 for Model Number wtw5200sq0 Washer will only fill, will not agitate, spin or drain. I pulled it apart and checked the pump (found nothing) ran without pump and it worked. Put it back together and washer worked for 2 days then quit again. Pulled it back apart and checked the capacitor. Capacitor omh out fine. Checked coupler, it looked good. put it back together and it worked for a week, then quit again. Could it be the switch? Any suggestions?
1 Answer James, Yes, you would want to start at the lid switch WP8318084 if the switch is faulty or not making contact properly, the neutral side of the circuit will not be completed and the motor wont run. Also check the lid hinges and sleeves, make sure they aren't worn out or loose and causing too much movement or play in the lid and loosing alignment with the switch. Read More...
James December 22, 2015 for Model Number WTW5200SQ0 Washer fills with water but will nor agitate, spin or drain, just very low hum. Pulled apart and checked pump. Pump seemed fine. While pump was off I turned unit on and it ran, put it back together and washer worked for 2 days then did the same thing. Took it back apart and tested the capacitor, tested fine. Put it back together and it ran a week, then quit again. any suggestions?
1 Answer James, You will want to check the pressure hose and air dome to make sure that it is not clogged up The most likely cause for this issue of intermittent operation sounds like a loose connection. This also could be a timer that the contacts are sticking causing power to agitate and spin at the same time. Read More...
Ronald September 03, 2015 Based on the noise, I assumed that there was probably a problem in the gear case. However, based on the fact that the motor now doesn't run (the machine is disassembled), I thought I'd try a new capacitor (not expensive). I don't know if the motor is OK, however there was no burning smell when the machine died and I disconnected it immediately after the agitator stopped. I want to verify where the problem lies before I buy any more parts, but am trying to figure out how to check the motor and the gear case. The coupling is worn and should be replaced, but it was basically intact.
1 Answer Hello Ronald. You can turn the transmission by hand and determine if it is bad. As for the motor. If you do a test on the unit and it does not run, just hums, and the capacitor is good, then either the timer or the motor is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
