Sue/Ron July 29, 2013 for Model Number 11025852400 We purchased and installed a new timer. When we turn it on, it goes through all of the various stages until it reaches the last rinse with spin. Now nothing happens other than a buzzing sound - water remains in tub. We don't think the timer could have gone bad. Didn't cross-wire because of the wiring harness. Could it be we need to purchase a "capacitor, motor start" part 661605. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Sue. No, but the motor may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. It would not be the capacitor. Read More...
John March 25, 2013 for Model Number 110.20092991 Could you kindly let me know if the capacitor, your part # AP3861916 is oplarity sensitive? If yes, can you kindly offer me the wiring diagram. I really appreciate it. John
1 Answer John, The capacitor WP8572720 is not polarity sensitive and does not matter how it is hooked up. Read More...
Washed Up January 14, 2013 for Model Number 11026892690 washer stopped spinning. gave drum a push by hand and it started back spinning for just that once. Installed new motor. drum spun one cycle and stopped working. Water fills the drum, motor makes humming noise. Checked clutch, motor drive coupler and transmission, all ok. I'm leaning toward motor starter capacitor may be bad....?? What should I check next?
1 Answer Hello Washed up, The capacitor is just for start up. If the motor is running for agitate then it would not be an issue with the capacitor. You will want to check the hub nut to make sure that it is tight and check the drive bell to make sure that it is good. Most spin issues with a direct drive unit is caused by a bad clutch assembly or bad transmission. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Yoann. If the unit does not spin or drain on any cycle, you will need to check and see if the lid switch 3949247V is bad in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John July 03, 2012 for Model Number 110.28922790 Machine fills with water. Then nothing. Timer will not move. You can change to different cycles and nothing. Will not agitate, spin, drain, or fill. If the water level drops you can reset the fill level switch and it will refill. But still will not do anything else.
1 Answer Hello John. Based on the information you provided, you will need to check and see if the lid switch WP3949238 is bad and needs to be replaced on the unit. It should read closed with the lid closed on the unit. If it is broke or does not read closed it will cause the unit not to agitate or spin. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Dennis June 07, 2012 for Model Number 20722990 Washer fills with water fine, then when ready to wash, it just keeps clicking and does not agitate nor spin but will drain? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dennis. Check the motor coupling 285753A and see if it is bad on the unit. Also, check all the wiring and make sure there is no broken or bad wires on the unit. Read More...
Jim December 22, 2011 for Model Number 11020722990 When set in the handwash and delicate mode it works ok. When set in the regular and heavy-duty mode it does not work. When I start the cycle in delicate the spin cycle starts and if I switch it to regular or HD the spin cycle works and it spins faster. It it the switch?
Kathy October 14, 2011 for Model Number Kenmore 11026922500 Washer My washer will fill with water but instead of starting wash cycle it does nothing and make a loud humming sound for a short time, stops the noise then starts noise again. Machine will not agitate and dial does not move at that point. Moved dial so water would drain and then it filled for rinse cycle and went through spin cycle.
1 Answer Hi Kathy. First I suspect you have a bad motor start / run capacitor part # WP8572720. It will usually blow out in between the terminals.Remove power. Be careful and discharge the old capacitor by shorting the 2- terminal together multiple times with a "isolated-rubber "handle needle nose pliers. After this the only recourse you have is to replace the motor switch part # WP8529896. Or the motor assy. part # WP8541504. Thank You. Read More...
Don August 07, 2011 for Model Number Kenmore 110/9203120 Just replaced the motor coupling on my washer with parts and guidance from you and your website. Thanks. Now I have another problem. It worked fine for about 5-6 washes then it would fill but do nothing else. I tested the capacitor according to instructions from the internet and it appeared to be good so I put it back together and it worked fine thru a wash, spin and fill then it would not agitate, spin or drain. The lid switch appears to be working. When the lid is closed it hums which tells me it is trying to work. My first question is: is it possible for the capacitor to work intermittently, or are there two capacitors (a start and a run)? My second question is: is it possible I have reversed the wires on the capacitor and caused this problem. My third question is: if you do not think any of these are the problem do you have another answer. Thank you for your attention
1 Answer Don, I would have to think you may have a bad contact in the timer, based on the info you supplied. miswiring a capacitor does not normally create the issue you're describing. You may want to re check the wiring to the motor, and to the capacitor from the timer. Thanks and Good Luck. Read More...
