Mark, the rollers would need to be checked to see if they rotate freely. If they do not, it is likely that residue had built up on the roller shafts that would need to be cleaned. The felt seal would also need to be checked to see if a portion had rolled, causing tension and preventing the drum from rotating properly.

Thank you for the fantastic repair video. I bought the WHIRLPOOL Dryer Repair Kit (27 Inch Wide Dryers, Thin Twins) Part #: AP3109602 (4392067) and performed the installation of all the parts with no issues. The two questions I have are: Upon re-installing the drum the video says to ensure the silver metal tab is facing the front of the dryer, is this correct? When I did this, the new belt does not line up with the track from the old belt. I turned my drum around so the belt and the old track line up. Why does the metal tab need to be facing the front of the dryer?

1 Answer

Install so the belt is lined up with the old track. This ensures that it is assembled the same as before.

Ebeth, the control on button would need to be tested using the wires found at connection P3 after the dryer power cord is unplugged. From the wire at pin 12 to the wire at pin 9, there should be continuity when the button is pressed. If there is not, the user interface control WP8530589 has failed. If there is continuity, it would be likely that the main control WP8546219 has failed (main control has been discontinued by the manufacturer).

Order repair kit (AP3109602) based on exact Maytag dryer model number. The belt in the kit did not fit and Customer Service said there is a disclaimer saying parts may not fit. The CS person said I need to order a new belt and I could not return the incorrect one. No fault on my part, but its my problem. Makes me second guess ordering from them in the future. Not the best experience, but still hoping for a simple resolution. Order number: #13671306

Dani for Model Number MED8200FW0

My dryer wont tumble with more than one or two pieces of clothing in it. I figure its probably the tensioner spring or the belt is stretched. Cannot find a video on the repair for my model. I am worried that the repair kit 4392067 won't fit since my dryer looks a little different than that in the video. I know I would need to purchase the spring separate, but will this fit my model of maytag MED8200FW0? Also, do you know of a video that will show how to repair my machine?

1 Answer

Dani, Thanks for the question!!! We do not have videos for your exact model. There are more videos listed under each part that is in the kit that may provide more help. And yes this is the correct kit for your model.

Paul, the idler pulley, and the 4 rollers will work with the model provided. The belt in the kit is 1" longer than the manufacturer recommended belt WPW10112954 and might not work.
