Hello, Thomas. Most likely the problem is shorted relay inside the control board. Unfortunately this part is no longer available. Try to find the rebuild one on internet. The p/n is WP8546219. Good luck.

My gas dryer Whirlpool Duet model GGW9250PWD will not power up but the light comes on when you open the door. Called a local parts company in Sacramento and they told me it was the thermal fuse. I got it and replaced it but no joy. Called the parts place and they told me their guy was wrong because mine is a gas dryer so thermal fuse has no effect on powering up. Now they say I need a new control console for over $330.00. Not sure I'm getting good intel here. Can you help me figure this out? COULD IT BE THE CONTROL BOARD?

Hello Vincent, if the door switch was faulty, the control panel should beep on start indicating the door is open. Next set the control panel for time dry and 30 min, watch the display after a minute it should read 29 min left, this indicates the control board thinks the dryer is running and is counting down. You will need a multimeter for further testing. Access the main control board that is located under the top on the upper left side, start the dryer and check at the board for 120v at terminals P1-4 blue to P1-21 white if not there replace the mainboard for a faulty motor run relay, if it has 120v follow the blue wire down to the belt switch then the wiring connection at the motor.

Hello Richard, Most complaints like this are corrected by making sure there are no crimps or clogs in the exhaust ducting from the back of the dryer to outside. An excessively long exhaust will also cause the complaint of a long dry cycle. You can also verify the unit is heating and ample airflow is taking place.

Richard, you may want to test the inlet thermistor for 50k ohm resistance and the outlet thermistor for 10k ohms. You will also want to check to see how the control is cycling the element during the dry cycle. Also, if the clothes were warm and damp, you may also want to check the exhaust ventilation running from inside the house to the outside.

Ted Bourret for Model Number GEW9250PW1

About a year ago I replaced the heat element in our Duet dryer. While doing that I cleaned out the entire internal portion of the unit. About 9 months ago (3 months later) the dryer wouldn’t function, it said “sensing” and wouldn’t run. I check the thermal fuse (part AP6008325) and found it to be bad. I purchased from AppliancePartsPro and replaced. Dryer ran for a couple months and then the problem appeared again. Check thermal fuse (bad) and also found Thermister (part AP6013514) to be bad. Purchased both, dryer ran for a couple months. The third time it quit I purchased thermister, thermal fuse, and Thermal Cut-Off Kit (part AP3094244). Both high limit thermostat and thermal fuse in dryer tested fine but I replaced them anyway. Dryer ran for 2 days. I haven’t checked but I’m confident the thermal fuse and the thermister are probably blown again. What do you think is my problem? When I replaced the heat element my wife said the dryer seemed to be extremely hot. Looking for some informed help here, and AppliancePartsPros have been good to me thus far. Thanks, in advance, for any advise you can provide.

Ted, Check the heater element and wires, make sure there are no arc marks inside the heater housing and the element or wires isn't "drooping" and touching any where in the cabinet. If the thermal fuse and the thermistor are both malfunctioning this would indicate an air flow problem(the thermal fuse opens at apprx. 200 dgrs.F.) and the air isn't flowing through the blower housing properly. Check and clean the exhaust vent pipe(s) and vent hood. Check the blower housing and duct for a build up of lint, and make sure the lint filter isn't clogged with fabric softener deposits/build up.

My Whirlpool dryer (about 10 years old) will not power up when pushing the control on button. All remains control remain dark. When I open the door the light inside tank is working. So getting power. Door switch works; light goes off when pressed. I tested the thermal fuse by disconnecting and testing with a meter; it appears to be OK- ohm reading goes to zero- with probes on the fuse connectors. What I have discovered is that when I reconnect the fuse and plug the dryer back in-- it will now light up and work as normal for one cycle only. If you turn it off it will not light back up. PS. Also tried holding the End of Cycle Signal button down for 3-5 seconds- with no results. (Read on-line to try- LOL) I'm thinking the problem is the Main Control Panel but not sure? Please advise. As always, a big thank you. Mike.

Hello Ken. Hold down on the button with the lock symbol by it. If it does not unlock, then replace the user interface on the unit.
