Jason for Model Number WSR25D2RYW00

I had an issue where the plastic piece on the ice level arm broke off and got jammed up in the ejector fingers. So I ordered a new Ice maker, and installed it. I was unable to use the new harness wire that was sent with the new Ice maker because the original appears to be built into the fridge, itself. Unfortunately, now the ice maker is still not working? First I tried the jumper test T - H to harvest, and it failed, I then tested for stand by voltage L-N, and got no voltage? Can I test for voltage from the harness without the Ice Maker plugged in? If so how? Or is it possible I just received a faulty Ice maker?

1 Answer

Jason, based on the information provided, the wire harness has a failure. This can be tested while the ice maker is unplugged as there should be 120VAC from the black wire to the white wire.

Chris for Model Number whirlpool refrigerators ed2vhexvb01 water keeps running and overflows

Just today I noticed that the water kept running in my refrigerator's ice maker. There was no ice blockage in the tray or water supply tube. It only stopped constantly flowing water once I unplugged the fridge. After a while, I plugged the fridge back in and the water kept running and leaking everywhere. I cannot tell if this is a water inlet valve problem or an actual ice machine problem. I have had the water disconnected for some time now. However, I recently reached in and bumped my hand against the bottom of the ice machine tray - and seriously burnt my finger. I'm thinking it is the ice machine and not the water inlet valve. Any recommendation would be appreciated.

Hello Chris, Since the water stopped coming in when the unit was unplugged, this indicates a set of contacts in the icemaker assembly that has stuck together and is allowing voltage to continue to be sent to the water valve. Since the mold heater was also energized, the cycle wheel in the front of the icemaker assembly most likely has damage also. You could just replace the motor module 8201515, but the complete icemaker assembly WPW10190965 is cheaper and includes all of the motor module parts plus the cycling thermostat, mold heater, and the rest in a complete assembly.

Thomas for Model Number Whirlpool Side by Side Refrigerator/Freezer

My ice maker gave us some problems last season at our Winter home. Using your wonderful website I learned of the adjustment procedure to decrease the amount of water to the tray. Which stopped the dripping, icicles, c!umped ice etc. This season the ice maker started out fine. After a cocktail to celebrate living another season we change the filter, purge the water per owners manual and turn on ice maker. Dump first couple of loads, yada yada. About a month ago it seemed like it wasn't producing as much ice. And week ago it just stopped. We performed the deicing of the fill tube. Got about a half dozen cubes. Then maybe two regular trays, then nothing. Since we are getting a good flow of chilled water from the dispenser can I take the water inlet solenoid valve out as a problem? Should I try and readjust back to original (or as close as I can remember) water level setting? My wife who has better eyes, smaller fingers and is the same height as the unit says she can feel an ice blockage at the water outlet to the fill chute in the rear of the freezer. What is the cause and how do we prevent an ice blockage there. The unit went in we put the house up. So six years old but only used half that time. Thank you for your help in advance.

1 Answer

Thomas, You will want to check to make sure that there is power to the water valve when it calls to be filled. If the fill tube is not frozen and the valve gets power then the water valve would be the issue. You cannot rule out the valve just because the dispenser is running. There are 2 solenoids that are on the valve, one for water and one for ice and one can fail while the other is still good. If there is no power getting to the valve then this will be an icemaker assembly that is faulty.

Braden, You can jump out the ice maker to make it cycle. When it cycles test at the water valve in the back for 120 volts. If you have voltage there when the cycle calls for water then replace the valve as long as the fill tube is not frozen up inside the freezer. Remove the white cover of the ice maker. Find the markings for T and H and using an insulated jumper jump across those terminals while holding in the light switch, The ice maker should cycle, and at the end of that rotation, it should send voltage to the water valve. When the motor turns a quarter of a turn remove the jumper and it will finish the cycle by itself.

Hello Lumpy, You can substitute the D7824706Q icemaker for the WPW10190965 icemaker as long as you use the parts with the Amana icemaker in the Amana refrigerator. This would include the wiring harness and the bale arm. These would be the primary differences.
