Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Inverter Board (Part Number: OEM17405016)

Ronald, If the center divider between the doors is getting hot then you will want to check to make sure that the condenser coils under the unit are clean and also check to make sure that the condenser fan motor in the back of the unit are working. With the unit cooling there would not be an issue with the inverter board as it just runs the compressor.

Linda, You will want to pull the unit out from the wall and unplug the unit. Take the lower cover off that covers the compressor. The inverter will be located to the left of the compressor and should be held in by a 1/4" screw. Remove the screw and disconnect the wiring. Install the wiring from the new board and reinstall the board.

I have a Kitchenaide KSCS25INSS00 and the compressor was not running. I replaced the control board and upon plugging in the unit, the compressor goes on, but only for 2-3 minutes. Cool air blows inside the unit, but not enough to really make it cold. Does this sound like the inverter is out too, or only working part of the time? Or, does this sound like a temp sensor somewhere else is out. I see the inverter replacement part pic, but there is an odd black box on the side of the compressor into which goes one of the connectors from the inverter. The two other connector look easy enough to connect, but the one that goes into the black box makes it difficult to see if the connector is the right one (the thick one that comes out the side of the inverter, OEM part W10133449). I cannot figure out how to open the black box, so I cracked it a little (ouch!) and the connector does look different. Any idea what to do here if the connector are different?

Hello Kenny, The red and black wires go to the condenser fan motor and the evaporator fan motor and probably the temperature control. You need the wiring diagram for the unit the inverter box was designed for or if we had the model number for it we could look it up. Since each model is wired a bit differently, the model number is of supreme importance.

Hello Marily, No, this is the board that runs the compressor W10841139 which some people call the motor. You also have fan motors on this unit.

Hello Steve, You may want to check to see if the condenser fan motor W10181323 is running. A bad condenser fan motor will cause no air blowing across the compressor and this will cause overheating and shutting down prematurely of the compressor. Compressor will continue to try to turn on until it does finally kick in. The area inbetween doors getting extremely hot would be another sign of the condenser fan not cooling the condenser or compressor.

Tom, you forgot to supply a model number, but, we can give you some basic, general information. The connectors are "plug and play" type connectorsand if you disconnect anr reconnect the wires one at a time, or label the wires as you disconnect them you shouldn't have a problem. We'll also send you some information that should be helpful.
