Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Kit, Overload/Relay (Part Number: OEM12028986)

Lloyd, If you're sure the snap isn't the ice maker sensor arm returning to position or cubes dropping into the ice bin, then it could probably be the overload / relay snapping open or closed. but we would expect a more variable time span and occurrence, unles theres a cooling problem in the refrigerator compartments. You may want to try moving the refrigerator out remove power and remove the compressor cover and check and clean the condenser coil fan, compressor etc. also check to make sure theres no debris or pet hair blocking the front lower grille or under the machine blocking the air flow.

Dominic, We have no parts or service information for the product number you supplied. The 12002782 overload and relay kit does work on several models and brands of refrigerators. We can't guarantee it, but it will probably work on your product based on your post information.

Paka, On the top part of the cover there will be a tab, you will slide a flat blade screwdriver under the tap and pry the tab upward to remove the cover. Once cover is removed and power turned off to the unit, you will just pull the old relay and overload off and install the new one.

B.R. for Model Number Haier HCR27L

I have a Haier mini refrigerator that no longer cools. I removed the relay switch from the side of the compressor and tested the 3 terminals for continuity. All 3 passed this check. At this point I'm fairly certain the fault is within the relay components. This model has a BT42-135 overload device and a JPQ11 or JPQII relay. Can you recommend the appropriate replacement parts for these components? There is a noticeable rattle within the BT42-135. Thanks

Hello B.R., This sounds like a bad start relay. You will have to contact the manufacturer for the part number since it is not included in the manufacturers' parts list. I'm sorry for the added inconvenience and appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Hello Casey. Blue goes to the overload and orange to number 2 on the relay. If wiring in the capacitor, it goes from 2 to 3 on the relay. You do not have to use it for the compressor to run.

Cynthia, The part that actually goes inside the dryer knob to hold the knob to the timer would be the U clip WH01X10106. If the part that is needed is part of the shaft of the timer then the timer would need to be replaced.

Hello Doug, There is no reset button on a refrigerator. The unit may simply be in defrost. Plug it in and wait an hour. If it still isn't running, open the door and look straight up above the top shelf for a hole that has the defrost timer inside it. Use a flat blade screwdriver to turn it clockwise. As you turn it, you should hear a soft clicking sound. There will be a point you get to that a louder click will occur. This either put the unit into or out of the defrost cycle. The next place to check is the temperature control. The 120Vac is sent there from the defrost timer. If it has no power, advance the defrost timer as explained before and recheck for voltage at the temperature control. If voltage is getting to the defrost timer but is not passing the voltage in either position, the defrost timer WR9X502 has failed. If it is passing the voltage to the temperature control, the temperature control WR09X20002 is bad. If the voltage isn't even getting to the defrost timer, you have either an issue in the harness or in the wall outlet, or the power supply to the unit has the issue, (such as a bad breaker in the breaker box.
