Charles Riggs March 13, 2018 for Model Number LW8303W2 I'm working through the video to replace the bearing. I hit a major snag on removing the hub. I've tried the wooden block. Didn't budge. Tried a puller that bolted into the hub holes. Broke the edges off the hub. Now what? Repair comments indicate others have had a similar problem and had to cut off the hub. How do I do this?
1 Answer CHarles there will be a spanner wrench that you need to use to get the hub off the shaft using and a 3 or 4 lb head for em Read More...
Charles R March 10, 2018 for Model Number Amana LW8303W2 LPW8303W2 I've watched and understand the bearing replacement video. Not sure that I don't have another bigger issue. The first symptom failure was a streak and puddle of black liquid inside the stainless steel wash tub. If the load was small, it didn't get on the clothes. Then the washer started leaking from the outer tub under the washer. I assume both the seal and the bearing (even though I don't have a noise issue), should be replaced, right. Question is: What could be the source of the black liquid? I've not ordered parts but started disassembly to be sure of what I needed. The inside of the drive bell has a heavy coating of this jet black, oily texture material. What could that mean? Also, my top tub ring is different that the video and is marked part no 36016. I broke off a piece in removal. Is a replacement available? BTW: Great video.
1 Answer Charles, If you use fabric softener in the washer then this will be fabric softener that is not completely dissolved. For the leaking issue the seal would be the most likely cause for this issue. Read More...
Jim December 15, 2016 for Model Number LWA50AW The washer makes a loud roaring noise starts quiet and gets louder as the tub increases speed during the spin. The belt is badly worn, and have small amount of oil leaking from transmission. Should I replace belt, lower bearing, hub seal kit and transmission?
1 Answer Jim, Based on your post information and description, yes, you would want to replace all the parts you mentioned, plus the incidental parts (mounting bolts, tub bolts, washers, etc.) but the transmission 38826P is no longer available from the manufacturer. You may want to research the internet to see if you can get a new or remanufactured transmission, before you start the project. Thanks Read More...
Mark November 11, 2015 for Model Number ALW480DAW Is the main bearing part number AP4049019 part of the hub and seal Part number AP4253876. or do I need to order the bearing separate from the hub and seal kit. thanks mark
Greg May 13, 2015 for Model Number SAV5710AWW (Series 11) My tub leaks at the bottom. Am looking to replace the seal with part # AP4260930. Because the machine has been leaking, I'm thinking I should replace the main bearing. Do you agree? If so, can you tell me if there is a difference between these two bearings - AP4047999 and AP4049019? Is it the same bearing, and one part includes the assembly and one doesn't. Why does only one baring include the assembly? Which part should I buy?
1 Answer Hello Greg, These are not the same part. We have no way to tell the exact difference since this information is not provided to us by the manufacturer. This bearing should be changed if it feels rough, is making noise, or is seized. The spin bearing is the one damaged by the tub seal leaking detergent water into it so if the tub seal is being replaced, it is wise to replace the spin bearing also. The only part we can recommend to you is the one recommended by the manufacturer for your model. Read More...

Byron July 27, 2014 for Model Number LWD70AW Got a leak coming from tub lower bearing, is this a sealed bearing? or is there a separate seal? Thank you in advance!
1 Answer Byron, The bearing is a sealed bearing but there is a separate seal above the bearing which is where the leak is most likely coming from. The part number you would need is the hub and seal kit R9900552. Read More...
John A. July 18, 2014 for Model Number SAV3655AWW After tub fills with water, machine will not start its wash cycle until I move the belt manually. It makes a screeching and grouling noise. After the initial problem then it run great. No water leaks and no noise the rest of its cycles. Belt and tensioner are fine.
1 Answer Hello John. It sounds like the bearing is bad and will need to be replaced. A sure sign of this is roaring during the spin cycle. Read More...
Drew June 13, 2014 for Model Number sav151deww My washer has a loud clicking noise only in spin cycle that progresses faster as the tub spins faster. Also the machine shakes and moves around alot. Would this be the bearing 40004201p or seal kit w10116790 serial #14482821GA
1 Answer Drew, You will want to look at the helix WP40047402 on the tub pulley at the bottom of the unit and make sure that it is not causing the clicking noise. The other thing that could cause this would be the brake pads being loose. Also check under the inner tub to make sure that there is nothing caught in there that would cause the noise. Last but not least check the drain pump 27001233 to make sure that there is nothing in it that would cause the noise. In most cases the brake pads have come loose and would need to be replaced. The brake pad part number is R0000014 and would need silicone grease to put on the pads which is part number WP26594P. Read More...
