Craig November 02, 2014 for Model Number RS22AQXMQ00 How can I tell if the motor is bad., because when I push the ice Despenser I can hear the shaft turning but it is not making ice.
1 Answer Craig, If the motor is running but not dispensing ice then you will want to check to see if the motor coupler is stripped. The part number for the coupler is WPW10169511. Read More...
Vince T. July 06, 2014 for Model Number KSCS25FKSS00 The ice/water dispenser does not work. It has no power at all and nothing works. Literally happened over night, it was working fine to nothing at all. The ice machine is not making ice either. At first, I thought it was the door switch (the one at the top that turns the light on and off), which I removed and checked for continuity. It checked out ok. I also depressed the door switch in front of the ice dispenser and when depressed, the light stopped blinking twice, so I am assuming the optical sensor works. Any thing else I can try? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Vince, You will need to open the dispenser area to check the micro-switches on the control bracket WP2180226. The pins on the control bracket are common to break off, leaving the switches hanging so they cannot be actuated. Read More...
Dex June 03, 2014 for Model Number ed5ffhgxkq03 Will not dispense ice as motor is not turning. Does that mean motor is bad? How can I check?
1 Answer Hello Dex. Tape the door switch closed and access the motor. Test for 120 volts to the motor when the dispenser is pressed. If the power is there, replace the motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Patty J May 27, 2014 for Model Number Ksrs22f My kitchenaid superba ice maker isn't working. It will not produce ice. No water is going into the ice part and if I stick my finger in there it isn't even cold. What could be the problem?
1 Answer Hello Patty. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Mbassett October 20, 2013 for Model Number msd2542veb00 Drive coupler is stripped on shaft, how do you remove? Is this a replaceable part?
1 Answer Mbassett, The only way to remove the stripped coupler is to pull the auger housing and wedge something under the coupling and tap it so that it grabs the threading and is able to be removed. You do not necessarily have to remove the old coupling. You can put the new coupling over top of it and it will still work normally. This is the easiest way to correct the issue without removing the old coupling. Read More...
Susan June 27, 2013 for Model Number MSD2542veb00 I made a boo-boo. I let those fake ice cubes fall into my ice bin, where they lodged in the crusher blades and we kept pushing it and pushing it (wondering why it wasn't making ice) until I realized what was up and removed the offending cubes. Now, the ice dispenser won't work. When the lever is pressed, you can hear the motor working, but the auger won't turn in the ice bin to feed the cubes to the crusher. I don't see anything visibly wrong with the auger (or agitator, whatever it's called), and it turns when you move it by hand. Just doesn't move when lever is pressed. What could possibly fix this problem? I don't want to buy an expensive part just to discover it is not the source of the issue. Help!
2 Answers Susan, If you take out the bin and push the light switch along with pushing the dispenser pad, if the auger motor gets power and sounds like it is trying to move but won't then the auger motor is bad and would need to be replaced. Read More...

2 Answers Hello Susan, I have no clue what kind of "fake cubes" you are talking about, but I would wager the motor coupling (AP4363997) or the auger motor (AP4568118) shaft is stripped. Read More...
Sergio April 25, 2013 for Model Number GS5SHGXKB00 I recently purchased a Ice Dispenser Motor for my refrigerator from your website believing it was the cause of the problem I am currently having with it. I installed the motor per the instructions on the video (great video), and it still dose not dispense ice. I have plenty of ice production and the water dispenser on the door works well. I just do not get any ice coming out of the door. I do not hear the motor even attempting to work. I understand I should have checked power distribution in the individual components, but I get light coming from the light bulb below the ice dispenser motor. I am not certain if I should attempt to replace the solenoid or if it is something else. Do these refrigerators have these issues commonly, and does it seem to be one particular part, or can it be any number of issues? Your answer is eagerly awaited. Thank you, Sergio.
1 Answer Sergio, You will want to check the dispenser bracket for broken pins. To access the bracket you will use a flat blade screw driver at the bottom of the trim and pop the bottom out of place then lift the face off the dispenser. Once this is done, check on the upper left of the bracket [AP2988571 where the switch is located and where the dispenser lever would hit to see if the switch moves around in the assembly. If it does then this is the cause of dispenser motor not operating. Read More...
