Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Ice Dispenser Motor (Part Number: OEM18018156)

Hello Cupid. Based on the information you provided, if the motor runs with the door open, but not with it closed, then there is a wiring issue with the unit. You need to look for loose or broken wires on the unit. Check at the door hinges, where the wires come in, and the light switch inside the freezer.

John, You will want to test the auger motor to make sure that you are getting 120 vac to the auger. If you are then the auger motor would need to be replaced.

Icemaker is not working but water dispenser works fine. Did all the trouble shooting tips and then replaced the dual water valve. Same result - no ice. If filled manually it makes ice. Switched out the tubes for dispenser and icemaker - water came in when engaging the water dispenser at door. Changed the water fill microswitch - still no ice. Arm to icemaker goes up and down fine. Motor and timing gear turn. I hear a humming or buzzing in ice maker but still no ice. Any other ideas. Should I change the hold microswitch? Should I adjust the water fill screw? I am determine to fix this ice maker (it is a M1 Model).

Hello Dona, The hold switch would be the only other component aside from the cams and gears that would cause there to be no water getting to the icemaker. You also want to check your wiring to make sure that there is not a bad wire through the harness.

Hello Kathy, You will test for power to the auger motor with the light switch taped closed. If there is power there, and the motor does not turn, you will need to order and replace the ice dispenser motor in the unit.

Hello Jennifer, If the arm is fully inserted in the front of the ice maker module housing, the switch is bad in the motor module 8201515. Replacing it will restore normal operation. Be sure to unplug the refrigerator before attempting the repair since there is 120Vac behind the motor module. Remove the white cover, the three screws, and pull on the beige part. It will slide right out. Slide the new one in and reinstall the three screws. Reinstall the white cover and plug the unit back in. Simple as that, your job is complete.

Marc, Check and make sure you're getting 120 VAC to the wires on the auger motor from the dispenser actuator switch, when the lever is pressed. Check for loose or damaged wires at the freezer door hinge wire harness.

Mick, Yes, it could be the dispenser switch assembly WP2180279. But you would want to check the ice dispenser paddle mounting tabs and linkage flapper WP2195089T and the actuator switch WP2162361 Their more likely to fail than the switch assembly. We'll send you some information that should help you determine the issue. Thanks

Matt for Model Number KSFS25FJBL01

My ice maker is making ice just fine, but is not dispensing ice though the door. I took out the ice bin and emptied and defrosted it. When I activate the ice maker from the front of the door with the freezer door switch held closed, I see no movement from the ice maker auger motor. I bought and replaced the motor with no luck. I incorrectly assumed it must be the micro switch since it wasn't the motor. Replaced the micro switch and still have no ice dispensing. The solenoid is also activating when I push the ice handle. Any ideas what else could be keeping the ice from dispensing?

1 Answer

Hello Matt. If the motor is new, and the switch is new, and there still is no power coming to the motor, and the wires are good, you will need to replace the micro-computer WP2203076 on the unit.
