Cupid April 23, 2013 for Model Number wpl 2188242 Change my dispenser motor this morning but work when the door is open. When I close it nothing. What could happen?
1 Answer Hello Cupid. Based on the information you provided, if the motor runs with the door open, but not with it closed, then there is a wiring issue with the unit. You need to look for loose or broken wires on the unit. Check at the door hinges, where the wires come in, and the light switch inside the freezer. Read More...
John A April 22, 2013 for Model Number GS5SHGLXLS01 The ice maker is making ice and the water dispenser works fine. However the ICE DISPENSER does not work. The door opens when you depress the paddle, but there is no sound. I tried turning the bucket drive that is attached to the ice dispenser motor by hand - at first would not turn but got it to turn with significant effort. Very hard to turn seems frozen.
1 Answer John, You will want to test the auger motor to make sure that you are getting 120 vac to the auger. If you are then the auger motor would need to be replaced. Read More...
Dona January 21, 2013 for Model Number FRS26ZGEW! Icemaker is not working but water dispenser works fine. Did all the trouble shooting tips and then replaced the dual water valve. Same result - no ice. If filled manually it makes ice. Switched out the tubes for dispenser and icemaker - water came in when engaging the water dispenser at door. Changed the water fill microswitch - still no ice. Arm to icemaker goes up and down fine. Motor and timing gear turn. I hear a humming or buzzing in ice maker but still no ice. Any other ideas. Should I change the hold microswitch? Should I adjust the water fill screw? I am determine to fix this ice maker (it is a M1 Model).
1 Answer Hello Dona, The hold switch would be the only other component aside from the cams and gears that would cause there to be no water getting to the icemaker. You also want to check your wiring to make sure that there is not a bad wire through the harness. Read More...
Kathy C December 18, 2012 for Model Number ED25RFXFN03 My ice maker will not dispense ice. When the ice lever is depressed it does not make a noise. The actator can be truned by hand. How do I know if the problem is the dispenser motor or the solenoid or something else? Thanks! Kathy
1 Answer Hello Kathy, You will test for power to the auger motor with the light switch taped closed. If there is power there, and the motor does not turn, you will need to order and replace the ice dispenser motor in the unit. Read More...
Jennifer October 22, 2012 for Model Number TS25AGXRD01 My icemaker won't STOP making ice. The arm is working fine but the icemaker continues to make ice, even when the arm is up. Any ideas on what part might need to replaced? Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Hello Jennifer, If the arm is fully inserted in the front of the ice maker module housing, the switch is bad in the motor module 8201515. Replacing it will restore normal operation. Be sure to unplug the refrigerator before attempting the repair since there is 120Vac behind the motor module. Remove the white cover, the three screws, and pull on the beige part. It will slide right out. Slide the new one in and reinstall the three screws. Reinstall the white cover and plug the unit back in. Simple as that, your job is complete. Read More...
Marc July 10, 2012 for Model Number KSCS25FKSS I just replaced the motor on my Ice dispenser, because the unit wasn't dispensing ice. The solenoid is actuating, and there is a buzzing when the paddle switch is engaged, but the auger won't spin. Any ideas?
1 Answer Marc, Check and make sure you're getting 120 VAC to the wires on the auger motor from the dispenser actuator switch, when the lever is pressed. Check for loose or damaged wires at the freezer door hinge wire harness. Read More...
Sue June 28, 2012 for Model Number 106 Our Ice maker has stuck while filling twice, and we have woken up in the morning to find the kitchen floor covered with water and the freezer covered with ice and water. What would be causing this to happen?
1 Answer Hello Sue. If the icemaker is stopping in the cycle and powering the valve, you will need to replace the icemaker. If the icemaker is going through the cycle, then the valve does not stop, you will need to replace the water valve on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ca June 11, 2012 for Model Number Kenmore 10657572790 My ice dispenser motor hesitated to start a couple of times with a humming noise and then stopped working. The water side dispenses ok and icemaker is making ice. However, I do not hear the ice crusher solenoid engaging or the motor making any attempt to operate (i am taping the door open switch to make sure the dispenser has power coming in). I suspect the motor but are not sure. Maybe if the motor is bad the solenoid does not engage?
1 Answer Hello Ca. If there is power there, and the motor does not turn, you will need to replace the motor WP2188242 in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Mick June 09, 2012 for Model Number ED25UEXHT01 Ice dispenser quit. Have ice, and water dispenser OK. Just bucket screw does not turn, SOV not flip up, does not dispense ice. Motor does turn by hand. I removed the bracket/sov/motor assy and bench checked motor. Temp hook up to 120AC, for 1 sec, motor runs OK. Checked connections at door hinge, seems OK there. We did have power outage few days ago. Could it be the PC board?
1 Answer Mick, Yes, it could be the dispenser switch assembly WP2180279. But you would want to check the ice dispenser paddle mounting tabs and linkage flapper WP2195089T and the actuator switch WP2162361 Their more likely to fail than the switch assembly. We'll send you some information that should help you determine the issue. Thanks Read More...
Matt May 15, 2012 for Model Number KSFS25FJBL01 My ice maker is making ice just fine, but is not dispensing ice though the door. I took out the ice bin and emptied and defrosted it. When I activate the ice maker from the front of the door with the freezer door switch held closed, I see no movement from the ice maker auger motor. I bought and replaced the motor with no luck. I incorrectly assumed it must be the micro switch since it wasn't the motor. Replaced the micro switch and still have no ice dispensing. The solenoid is also activating when I push the ice handle. Any ideas what else could be keeping the ice from dispensing?
1 Answer Hello Matt. If the motor is new, and the switch is new, and there still is no power coming to the motor, and the wires are good, you will need to replace the micro-computer WP2203076 on the unit. Read More...
