Hello Mike, it sounds as if the auger motor /shaft has dropped slightly. Access the motor and check if anything has come loose or broken on its mounting.

Richard, go to the main control board in the back, check for 140 volts DC at the P34-7 Blue pin to P3-8 Grey pin with the dispenser paddle activated. If you have voltage coming out of the board but no voltage at the auger motor, you need to check the wiring between the board and the auger motor. Look especially at the door hinge area for a broken wire.

Hello JC, you'll want to test for voltage coming to the motor when you press the actuator (paddle). If you are not showing voltage you'll want to test the switch located in the back of the actuator part number WP2162361. Hope this helps!

James, check the auger drive shaft that fits into the bottom of the bucket. It needs to be tall enough so that it fits into the bottom gear of the bucket to properly drive the bucket auger. You can sometimes pull it up some to engage the gear a little better. If this does not work, you will need to replace the bucket, part number is W10859381

Ursula, take the ice bucket off and check the bar that runs from the dispenser motor to the ice bucket, sometimes it gets pushed down and does not make good contact with the ice bucket.

Khang for Model Number 106.55546402

My refrigerator will not dispense ice. The ice maker works as I have emptied the bin. After emptying the bin, I held the light switch and tested to see if the motor and augur work. When empty, motor runs and auger runs as well. When ice fills up about half way, I try again and I can hear the motor turning. However, the auger doesn't move and it appears stuck. I can jiggle the auger to free up some ice and the auger moves a little bit for one rotation. However, it will get stuck again and the motor will keep churning. Is the motor too weak to move the auger?

1 Answer

John, If the auger motor is turning slowly and then stopping while pushing the lever then this will most likely be a faulty auger motor.

Bryan for Model Number ED2VHGXMT00

My ice maker works but does not dispense ice. When pressing the lever on the exterior for ice you can hear the chute door open and the motor is running, but the auger doesn't move. I can take the bucket out and manually turn the auger okay. When I have the bucket out and tape down the door switch and use the exterior lever the motor that turns the auger does rotate, however if you put any pressure on the (what I'm going to incorrectly call a) "wing nut" it stops as the shafts rotates inside the nut. I can tell that is what is supposed to grab the auger from the back side of the bucket and turn it but it seems like it doesn't have any strength to do that. Any help with this? I've seen a couple of posts about that potentially being stripped but the symptoms were not the exact same as my own.

1 Answer

Bryan, First check to see if the drive yoke WPW10169511 has 'stripped out" on the motor shaft, (it has reversed threads) if not replace the auger motor.
