Bruce J September 17, 2019 for Model Number KFIV29PCMS00 Hi, My kitchenaid french door refrigerator has not cooled correctly since my granddaughter cleaned it out. The refrigerator is holding at 48 degrees and the freezer is holding at 18. She had the doors opened for quite some time and I'm wondering if something got messed up in the defrost cycle, or if something melted and froze over the thermistors? The one fan motor that I can reach from the back is running fine and the compressor is warm. I've tried unplugging it and restarting it with the default temps on the control panel So, my questions are, is there more than one motor evaporator, and if so, how do I get to the second one; and or, is there more than one thermistor and if so, how do I find the one for the freezer. Any ideas will be welcome. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Bruce, you did not mention if during the cleaning with the doors open if the refrigerator was still running, if not running nothing should have been affected. If it was running its possible an excess of moisture may have built up on the dual evaporator coils and jammed the fan motors. The temps you gave 48/18 would indicate either both fan motors are not working or there is a sealed system problem. Your model came with a technical testing sheet, it is located either under the top right door hinge cover or under/behind the lower front grille. Using it you can easily enter the test mode and test the thermistors, fan motors and defrost cycle from the control panel. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Bruce, you did not mention if the refrigerator was unplugged or at least turned off during the cleaning. If not running nothing would have been affected, if it was running it is possible there was an excess of moisture that turned to frost on the dual evaporator coils and may have jammed the fans, but that should have cleared in 24-48 hours normal run with doors closed. The temps 48/18 indicate either both fresh food and freezer fan motors are not running or there is a system problem. Your model came with a technical testing sheet, it is located either under the top right side door hinge cover or under/behind the front lower grille. Using it you can access the test mode and test/check the thermistors, the fans operation and the defrost cycle. Read More...
Tony September 06, 2019 for Model Number wrf736sdam13 My refrigerator keeping up temperature in the freezer just fine, but on the food compartment the temperature like the milk freezes and also the vegetables. If i set the temperature for the food compartment a little higher then it get warmer to the unsafe temperature so I thought about maybe changing the thermistor, hoping that will fix it before change the main control. What do you recommend?
1 Answer Tony, I agree about the thermistor but it is wired into the damper which opens and closes depending on what the thermistor reads. The damper is the door that opens and allows freezer air into the refrigerator compartment to cool that area. You would need part number WPW10479155 Read More...
Adam April 16, 2019 for Model Number WPW10514110 My evaporator motor is not turning on. Is there a way to test the motor to make sure its the motor or is it possibly a thermostat or even something else? I just don't want to spend the money on a new motor to find out it was something else.
1 Answer Hello Adam, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...

James January 04, 2019 for Model Number WRF989SDAM02 A couple of months ago I was getting water on the floor. Then about every two weeks the freezer door would freeze shut. They put a grid on the bottom pull out door creating a bond with the ice. Warm water with a hose pipe helped. Then the fridge was making a loud vibrations sound. At first I thought it was the compressor, turns out it was the evaporator fan motor. The fan motor has quit, there is a lot of ice around the coils. Now about every 3 minutes the refrigerator is playing it's start up jingle. Great fridge when it works, giving me trouble off and on from day one. Had a Freon leak, miracle of miracles I fixed that. Trying to figure out if the motor is dead or frozen. sounds like I have a bad defrost sensor? Would the motor not running cause the fridge to play a jingle? Thanks and help....
1 Answer James, For this issue of the fan motor not running could cause the jingle noise and would want to clear the ice from around the fan and if it is not running once the ice is clear then this will be a faulty fan. Read More...
Dawnna November 25, 2018 for Model Number WRF736SDAF10 The freezers is keeping stuff frozen but the refrigator part isn’t staying cold just cool...don’t hear anything kicking and running like usual
1 Answer Dawnna, You will want to check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is running in the freezer, check to make sure that the damper door for the refrigerator is opening. Also check to make sure that the evaporator is not impacted with ice. If it is then test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat to make sure that they are good for continuity. If bad the would need to replace the bad part. Read More...
Danny October 07, 2018 for Model Number WRF989SDAM00 I have had both evaporator is changed for a problem with the freezer not freezing. Freezer in our freezers I have a noise in the back of the freezer compartment that I believe to be the evaporator motor condenser motor. It runs almost continuously and makes noise. May shut off 30 seconds then turns right back on. I have seen entries for the fan blades on the motors to me it appears to be a noisy motor. Any help would be appreciated.
1 Answer Danny, For this issue if the motor is making a noise then this will be a faulty fan motor. Of course check to make sure that the fan blade is not hitting any ice or anything. Read More...
J.B. May 08, 2018 for Model Number WRF990SLAM00 I have a Whirlpool french door fridge that will not make ice. I have had several service calls for this problem. The icemaker has been replaced twice, the icemaker fan, the water solenoid, the ice bucket fill sensor, the water flow manifold have all been replaced and I still have no ice ! The freezer temp is set at "0" and usually stays below that and the fridge temp is around "37". From looking online, I think it may be the evaporator fan motor. The fridge is quite noisy most of the time, which makes me think the evaporator fan motor is bad, and possibly the condenser/compressor fan motor. Your help on this would be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer J.B., For this issue the main control board would most likely be the cause for this issue with the other components that have been replaced. Read More...
