The Circulation Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for pumping water through the spray arms to ensure thorough cleaning of dishes during the wash cycle. This motor helps maintain consistent water pressure and flow, crucial for effective dishwashing performance.

Over time, the circulation motor can fail due to factors such as motor wear, electrical issues, or blockages that cause the motor to overheat or become damaged. Regular use and the buildup of debris or hard water deposits can also contribute to motor failure.

Symptoms of a bad circulation motor include:

  • Poor cleaning results
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Water not circulating properly
  • Dishwasher not completing cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Ed, This sounds like there is another issue. The unit should be filling on a timed basis and the float switch should not be activating. You need to run the diagnostic mode and see if any fault codes come up. DIAGNOSTICS CYCLES AND RAPID ADVANCE SERVICE FEATURE: Pressing the following option keys in the sequence shown will either start the Diagnostics Cycle or turn on the Rapid Advance feature for stepping through customer selectable cycles: HIGH TEMP SCRUB - AIR DRY - HIGH TEMP SCRUB - AIR DRY --OR-- SANI RINSE-AIR DRY-SANI RINSE- AIR DRY If this key sequence is entered after starting a cycle, the Rapid Advance feature is turned on, which allows the operator to manually advance the currently running cycle, interval by interval, by pressing the Pots&Pans/Heavy or Anti-Bacteria/Cookware cycle key. If the above key sequence is entered with the dishwasher in Standby, the Diagnostics Cycle is started. The Diagnostics Cycle can be rapid-advanced, interval by interval, by pressing the Pots&Pans/Heavy or Anti-Bacteria/Cookware cycle key. All of this information is available on the tech sheet located in a plastic bag behind the kick panel.

Hello Anne. First make sure the water level is correct and the filters are clean. If so, then it is an impeller issue in the unit.

Gary for Model Number Whirlpool dishwasher GU1500XTKT0

My dishwasher started making more noise than usual. Not real loud, just more of a whine than it used to. I disassembled it enough to find the chopper was broken and the pump sump screen is partially clogged. I will replace the chopper. I want to remove the motor to clean the pump screen and inspect the impeller. I hoping that cleaning the screen will fix it and I don't have to replace the motor. My question is, can I remove and reinstall the motor with the existing volute gasket, or should I replace the gasket with a new one? That is, is reusing the gasket likely to cause a leak?

Hello Gary. You can remove it and use the old gasket. However, most likely it is the motor bearing making noise, not the chopper. But it is worth a try.
