The Circulation Motor is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It is responsible for pumping water through the spray arms to ensure thorough cleaning of dishes during the wash cycle. This motor helps maintain consistent water pressure and flow, crucial for effective dishwashing performance.

Over time, the circulation motor can fail due to factors such as motor wear, electrical issues, or blockages that cause the motor to overheat or become damaged. Regular use and the buildup of debris or hard water deposits can also contribute to motor failure.

Symptoms of a bad circulation motor include:

  • Poor cleaning results
  • Unusual noises during the wash cycle
  • Water not circulating properly
  • Dishwasher not completing cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello J.D.D., This unit has a seperate circulation pump W10782773 from the drain pump WP661658. It sounds like you may have debris in the circulation pump impeller, prevent it from turning. This would explain the hum.

Darren, You will want to check to make sure that there is power getting to the recirculation motor and check down inside the pump to make sure that the impeller is not jammed by some type of debris that would keep the motor from turning.

Bayougal for Model Number KUDP02CRWH4

My Kitchenaid dishwasher (model KUDP02CRWH4) suddenly began making a very loud buzzing noise when operating during the wash cycle. It cleans the dishes fine and is draining fine - no leaks and no unusual noises when draining. I have disassembled and cleaned the lower wash assembly, sump cover and filter, and food chopper assembly. I did find some debris which I removed and cleaned thoroughly. The impeller was extremely hard to turn when I removed the food chopper assembly. So, I flushed it out with clean water and a turkey baster. The impeller is turning now, but I feel resistance. Should this be spinning freely? Could this be the source of such a loud noise?

1 Answer

Bayougal, Yes, the impeller having resistance could be the cause especially if the noise is a loud squeeling type noise. This would be an indicator that the bearings are going out and need to replace the motor.

Jeremy for Model Number 66513462K901

Please help?? I purchased a dishwasher off of craigslist and the first time I hooked it up it wouldn't drain. It would fill up a little and shut itself off. Come to realize that the knock out on my garbage disposal was never actually knocked out. Prier to figuring out the knock out. I. Took the entire dishwasher apart and put it back together thinking maybe a clog. This thing is truly emaculate no gunk at all. So. I put it back together and run it. It works!!! Drains and everything!! I hadn't hooked it up in the actual spot were it goes. So. I unhooked it, slid it into the spot, and hooked it back up the same way. Went to run it again and same thing as before, it fills up a little bit and shuts back off. No hoses are kinked or clogged. Both times before when it wouldn't drain. I had to pull it outside and pull the hose from the bottom of the dishwasher to drain. This last time, I pulled the hose nothing drained out and there is still water inside the dishwasher. What is going on? Do I have a bad pump or control board? I reset the control board last night by hitting the heated dry and normal wash back to back twice. Still wont drain. When i hit the cancel/drain button, I think, I hear the little float thing on the inside of the dishwasher that determines the water level, I hear it click once or twice. Please help, my landlord left getting one up to me and has already credited my rent. Any advice?

Becky, Yes the soil sensor shield is pretty important, and needs to be installed in the sump. There is the possibility that an article of debris into the sensor and create other issues like erratic flush and drain cycles. You do need to install the shield.
