Mike November 19, 2011 for Model Number 66516034401 for the last couple of weeks the copper screen is plugging solid. The first time it happened we had dumped some cooked rice in the machine and it plugged solid. I removed the chopper, cleaned the screen, and the washer cleaned ok. since then, I've noticed that the washer is doing a very poor job of cleaning, sometimes we run the same dishes thru 3 times. I can tell that it seems to be a water circulation problem. When I clean the chopper screen the washer does an ok job. Do you think we may have a pump problem, or could the chopper be worn, and that's causing the screen to plug? everytime I remove the chopper, the screen is plugged solid.
1 Answer Mike, What type of debris are you finding in the screen ? You may want to remove the dishwasher, take it outside and flush as much water through the hoses and pump as it takes to flush out any and all the debris. Also check and make sure the check valve area is clear, and the valve is working WP8268375 Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Steve November 07, 2011 for Model Number KUDIO1ILBL3 My first question wasn't clear. When we open the door after washing there is a strong odor of burning plastic or an electrical smell. I have the motor and pump assembly out and have checked for any foreign objects. None found. The only time I smell the odor is when the door is opened after washing. We do not use the heat dry cycle, only the air dry.
1 Answer Hi Steve. Remove power. Separate the inner door from the outer by removing the inner door screws. Investigate the door latch switches part # WP8269209, the keypad control part # W10757829 (black) white is part # WP8531240 and the electronic control board part # WP8564543. Thank You. Read More...
Steve November 06, 2011 for Model Number KUDIO1ILBL3 Dishwasher runs and cleans fine but there is a strong odor of burning plastic when we open the door. No odor outside of machine. Unit is about 8 years old and used every other day.
1 Answer Hello Steve. You will need to check and see if something is by the heater and is burning when the heater comes on. Hope this helps. Read More...
Slim November 02, 2011 for Model Number WHIRLPOOL MODEL Sorry I dont have the model number im not at home but the pump assembly #is 3369015 the sidewinder. My dishwasher is about 2yrs old I noticed water sitting at the bottom of the tub and wont completely drain so I opened the door and activated the switch so I could see what going on as it cycles and I never see the spin arm really move or turn then when it was draining I looked at the motor it was turning like super slow motion. I took it all apart when I detached the motor from the the pump assembly the motor spins freely by hand now. But the impeller inside the assembly is stiff is that supposed to be that way or is my motor just weak and the impeller is fine tight inside the pump like it is? I opened the impeller housing and all the fittings are rubber and dont turn easy but not damaged. This is the question I cant find an answer for are you supposed to be to turn that impeller easy?
1 Answer Hello Slim. No, due to the magnets inside the motor, there is resistance on the impeller. Check and make sure the water is filling to the bottom of the heater. If not, you may have a bad water valve and the pump and motor WPW10757217 may be fine. Hope this helps. Read More...
Birdieman October 27, 2011 for Model Number Kitchenaid KUDP01ILBL1 Dish washer fills with water, but when wash cycle starts there is no water spray - none. During wash it makes a loud buzzing/humming noise. After a while I hit cancel and it drains fine. I measured the resitance of the motor through the connector per wiring diagram. Violet-blue = 6.6 Ohms, violet-yellow = 4.5 Ohms. Capacitor is not short or open - meaasured 19MOhms and increasing. I also pulled the motor and the shaft turns, but too stiff to turn with hand on impeller - I had to use a socket driver. I cannot see any obstruction. So...is my motor bad? If so, is it Part Number: AP4434021 Made by Whirlpool. Please advise. BTW - excellent Q/A section! Thanks.
1 Answer Birdieman, Sounds like your motor bearings have seized up, based on your post information/description. Yes, you will need a new wash motor. WPW10757217 is the correct part number you will need to order. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Doityurselfer October 17, 2011 for Model Number DU1055XTSS2 My dishwasher (quiet partner I) was making a grinding sound during the cycle, except for draining, I'm sure the motor is fried because now all it does is buzz. What is the motor part number and how hard is it to swap out? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Doityurselfer. If you just want to change the motor, you will need to order WPW10757217. It is alot easier to change the sump and motor assembly WPW10780877. To replace either part, you will need to pull out the dishwasher and access the inside and the bottom of the unit. They are not to hard to install. Hope this helps. Read More...
Tony October 11, 2011 for Model Number DU1300XTVBO My dishwasher is just over 2 years old an it was making a grinding noice. I paid a tec to check it out and he told me it was the motor, lost cause, not worth replacing. I watched him remove the top pieces to show the housing unit and he checked the grinder for anything...nothing. My question is how hard is it to replace the motor and where do I start.
1 Answer Tony, It's not that hard to do,"1. Remove the bolt securing the wash motor and drip shield in place on the pump assembly.2. Once the bolt and drip shield are removed, turn the wash motor counter-clockwise until it stops (approximately ¼ turn). 3. Pull the motor straight back from the sump assembly. Some effort may be necessary to dislodge the motor. The volute will remain attached to the motor. NOTE: When reinstalling the wash motor and volute, do not pinch the volute seal between the volute and sump. Use a small amount of rinse aid on the volute seal to help installation. - NOTES -- 4. With the wash motor removed, the separation screen can be removed from the sump base. Of course you want to remove power to the dishwasher first, and if you have difficulty with working room, you could remove the dishwasher from the cabinet. Thanks and good Luck Read More...
Swirlhorse October 05, 2011 for Model Number KUDI01ILWH1 Hi, Lots of water inside the tub when running however there is not enough pressure to turn the middle spray arm. There is no water getting to the top spray arm. There are no kinks in the supply hose and I have cleaned the food chopper and all the spray arms. I think it is the motor. Do I need to order seals or pay any particular attention to lubricating the existing seal etc? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Swirlhorse. If everything else is good, then it sounds like the motor WPW10757217 is bad and will need to be replaced. It comes with everything you will need for the install. Hope this helps. Read More...
Khosrow September 28, 2011 for Model Number KUDM01TJBL0 Hello, Our KitchenAid Dishwasher Model: KUDM01TJBL0 has stop washing. The tub fills in with hot water but afterward one-second humming noise starts intermittently every 3-4 second interval without any action. As time passes on the intervals between humming grow longer and longer with the same humming noise punctuating the silence in between. Finally, when the cancel button is pressed, it empties the tub completely. What is wrong and what do I need to do?
1 Answer Khosrow, You're on the right track, you could have a weak motor winding, or loose connection. You may also have debris down inside the volute and jamming the pump impeller, causing the motor to stall and not run. You'll need to remove the motor from the pump and check. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Ruvane September 06, 2011 for Model Number du1100xtpb6 I asked the following in quotes last Thursday "My dishwasher does not clean the top rack, and does a poor job of the bottom one as well, it also seems to me the amount of noise that it makes (e.g the sound of water hitting the dishes and the dishes clinking) is less then it was, any idea what this could be? Also how difficult is it to replace whatever part you may suggest. Thank you in advance for your help." You answered the following "Hello Ruvane. You will need to check and see if the water level inside the tub is up to the bottom of the heater. If not, you will need to replace the water valve AP3178610. These are not hard to change. Disconnect the power and turn the water off. Then remove the toe panel, and unscrew the fill line going to the water valve. Once removed, you will remove the screws holding the valve in place. Unplug the wires going to the valve and remove the hose. Reinstall with the new valve in reverse order. Hope this helps." Hi again, I was able to remove and replace the valve, however the problem is not fixed, there is still no water hitting the top racks, or even the bottom rack, it seems to me as if the water on the bottom spray arm sort of dribbles out, any ideas? Ruvane PS the above is just for your review.
1 Answer Hi Ruvane. Remove the rack end clips. Remove the racks. remove all wash arms and use a pick tool under the sink to clean the plugged jet holes (especially in the ends). Rinse them out under the sink. Take the top end of the pump / motor apart and clean. Use the dishwasher Glisten cleaner monthly. Try to figure if there is anything protruding after it is loaded that interferes with wash arm operations. Inspect the drain hose and insure there is a loop in the drain hose affixed (clamped) tightly to the top underside of the sink then " taught" into the sink drain. Make sure that the drain hose and sink drain is not clogged. Let us know if we can assist further. Thank you. Read More...
