Dave January 21, 2013 for Model Number kitchen Aid Superba electric dryer The dryer has just stopped working. When I turn the selector dial, I hear the timer working. When I push the start button, I get nothing. Would this be a faulty relay on the back side of the start button? I think it is part # 3398094. Could anyone confirm this?
1 Answer Hello Dave, You would need to check the door switch to make sure that it is not faulty. You would also want to check the thermal fuse to make sure that it is not blown. Check continuity on both components. With door closed you should have continuity on the door switch. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Phil S December 08, 2012 for Model Number kgys700gq1 this gas dryer recently stopped working. When cycle selection is made, the timer can be heard working, but the unit doesn't start when the start button is pushed. If cycled to the "Sensor Dry" cycle, the timer will run down. The unit will not turn on, though, until the timer reaches the "extra care" period. It then goes cycles through a drum spin and stop cycle -- no heat. I have continuity tested and confirmed OK the following: thermal fuse high-limit thermal fuse cycling thermostat Because the timer works and interior light goes on when the door is open and goes off when the door switch is depressed, I don't believe the issue is with the door switch. I'm down to the start switch, but am uncertain about what item (part #) to test next. When the unit is plugged in, the cycle selector is turned on and the start button is pushed, I hear a click. Again, the timer continues to function. Should I be looking at the start button relay?
1 Answer Phil, Your most likely issue is a faulty timer switch circuit WP3976570 or signal switch 3399638 Based on your post information, the start relay and door switch are OK, the timer advances, and the motor runs in the "extra care"setting. That pretty much limits the possibilities to a bad timer switch 4 or switch 0, the signal/guard switch is faulty(stuck contact). or the "white" wire to the motor is damaged or broken. Read More...

Phil July 11, 2012 for Model Number wgd5830sw0 When I push and hold the start button on the dryer it will turn on, but when I release the button it turns off. Could someone please tell me what this could be? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Phil. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the motor 279827 is bad and will need to be replaced. The motor has a switch that makes the unit continue to run. If the switch is bad, it will only run with the button held down. You can only get the switch with the motor 279827. It is made onto it. Read More...
