The Pump and Drive Belt Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. The Pump and drive belt kit is responsible for helping to drain water from the washer drum during the wash cycle. The pump and drive belt kit works by powering the washer's pump to remove water from the drum and out of the washer. The drive belt provides the power to turn the pump, while the pump helps to drain the water. The kit includes 1 pump belt and 1 drive belt.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Standing water in the washer drum
  • Ineffective or non-existent water drainage
  • Potential water damage or flooding caused by a faulty pump or drive belt

Causes of needing to replace the pump and drive belt kit include normal wear and tear over extended use, exposure to debris or foreign objects, or physical damage from impact or mishandling.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washer models.

For Whirlpool Pump And Drive Belt Kit (Part Number: OEM12033546)

Jean, You'll need to replace the belts, but first you need to determine if you need a transmission. Remove the front panel, Raise the front of the washer and block it up so it can't fall. reach under the machine and remove both belts. Grasp the transmission pulley and turn it clockwise, the transmission and tub should spin. Then turn the pulley counter clockwise the pulley should turn relatively easy and the agitator should oscillate back and forth, if the pulley won't turn or the agitator doesn't oscillate, you have a failed transmission.

Fred, The first thing to check would be the lid switch on the unit. If the lid switch checks ok then you will want to check the pump and see if it spins freely. If not then the pump is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Robert S. for Model Number LAT9235AAE

My 1995 Maytag laundry washer would run a wash cycle but it would not evacuate the water and go into a spin cycle. The faint sound of the little electric motor in the timer is present but, no sound from the washer/spin motor. I evacuated the water out of the washer. I then unplugged the machine and leaned it backwards to check the drive belt and pump belt. Both belts are in place and intact and the pulleys freely turn with my hand. I set the machine back on it's four feet and plugged it back into the wall receptacle. I ran a new wash cycle and it ran both spin cycles fine without any problems evacuating the water. It seems to be working fine now. I don't know what is happening. I have had this Maytag laundry washer since I bought it new in 1995 and I have never had to replace the drive or pump belts, neither the drive motor. The four feet are adjusted to sit the washer level and secure without rocking or vibrating.

Robert, The next time it happens raise and lower the lid, listen to hear the lid switches "click". Also check and make sure the selector knobs are on a selection, and not in-between a setting. After 20 years of use, you may want to consider replacing the belts, The belts usually last 10 to 12 years depending on usage.

Hello Rose, This could be the belt 12112425 but you should also verify there is no debris in the hose restricting the water flow. You can remove the pump hose from the bottom of the tub to verify there is nothing in the outer tub restricting the water flow. As a note, you should never change only one belt on this design since it will cause the other belt to slip.

Joe, You will want to check the belts for being stretched and not pulley properly. Also check the drain pump to ensure that it is not clogged and keeping the unit from draining properly.

Jeff, You will want to check the pump assembly to see if there is something clogged in the drain that would cause the pump to seize and cause the belt cause the issue.

Hello Stanley, Make sure there is nothing under the unit that could get into the belts, If a sock or similar item gets under the unit, it can get in the belt and flip it off. Also, make sure there is no oil under the unit. The lower lip seal in the transmission could be leaking, which puts oil on the belts and pulley. If this is the case, the pulleys should be completely cleaned with rubbing alcohol to remove all of the oil. The lip seal 207843 should be replaced and the belts replaced 12112425. The front panel should be removed to locate the source of the leak. If the pump WP6-2022030 seal is leaking, the water will show up under the unit but not inside.

Hello Peter. Lean the unit back and check and see if the belt is broken or if the bearing in the tub has went bad and needs to be replaced. You just roll the belt on and off the pulleys under the unit. Easy to do.
