The Pump and Drive Belt Kit is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. The Pump and drive belt kit is responsible for helping to drain water from the washer drum during the wash cycle. The pump and drive belt kit works by powering the washer's pump to remove water from the drum and out of the washer. The drive belt provides the power to turn the pump, while the pump helps to drain the water. The kit includes 1 pump belt and 1 drive belt.

This part fixes the following symptoms:

  • Standing water in the washer drum
  • Ineffective or non-existent water drainage
  • Potential water damage or flooding caused by a faulty pump or drive belt

Causes of needing to replace the pump and drive belt kit include normal wear and tear over extended use, exposure to debris or foreign objects, or physical damage from impact or mishandling.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washer models.

Hello Jay. Check and see if the drive block is stripped out and needs to be replaced on the unit.

Rick, Yes you will want to replace both belts 12112425, but since the washer won't spin , you'll need to check for an article stuck between the tubs, and or a seized tub bearing 6-2095720 and 6-2040130 assembly. Raise and block up the front of the washer, remove the belts, grasp the transmission pulley and turn it clockwise, if the transmission doesn't turn, or there is a POP noise or you feel the transmission "break" loose and it turns, you most likely have a seized tub bearing.

Hello Catherine. Check the screens and see if they are clogged in the hoses and valve. If not, then check for power to the water valve. If there is power there and no water, replace the valve WP22001274. Make sure the fuse is good. if not, replace the latch assembly WP22001682. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Gary for Model Number LAT8704AAE

My Maytag washer makes an intermittent screeching noise only in the agitation cycle and noise is more pronounced with heavier loads and/or high water levels. The unit is close to 20 years old and works fine outside of the screeching noise. There is no noise in the spin cycle. The belts have never been replaced and there is no noticeable water or oil leakage under the unit. A visual inspection of belts indicates some wear but they are not falling apart. Question: Are drive belts the probable cause for this noise or would a more likely cause be a bearing issue? Or perhaps both? If a bearing is likely cause, is there a particular bearing in clutch, transmission, motor or tub that would be priority to check? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Gary, It's time for a new set of belts 12112425 also check and lubricate the motor carriage rollers/slides with a few dabs of silicone grease WP26594P so the motor slides move freely back and forth. The squeak noise in the agitation cycle, is most likely a "slipping" brake package. If you can lay the washer on it's back, or raise the front high enough to access and remove the transmission pulley, you can add 1 teaspoon of 90 weight gear oil to the brake package, over the lip or edge of the stator. Also clean any residue and oil from the motor and transmission pulley.

Glen, If the floor and flooring are good and solid, you'll need to remove the front panel, and check to see if the damper pads 203956 are sticking out from under the damper 203725 or if there is gray colored soot on the base of the machine, You can also grasp the top of the agitator and move the tub in several back to front and side to side movements, the tub movement should be "stiff" but "free". If the damper or pads are worn the tub motion isn't transferred to the base properly and the washer will "walk" on the floor.

Hello J.W., The belts sound like they need to be replaced, but they cannot cause a leak. You need to run the unit with the front panel off to locate the leak. Of course you should be very cautious not to get caught up in the spinning transmission assembly, but there isn't much of a way to locate a leak without opening the unit. If the water gets in the floor with no water being visual inside the cabinet of the unit, the water pump WP6-2022030 is the most likely cause of the leak.

Hello Deloris, You need to remove the agitator and check the spanner nut that secures the spin basket to the transmission shaft. You may need to replace the drive block WP389140 to get the unit to operate properly.

Dan for Model Number Maytag/Lat8705aae

recently used washer in a Permanent press cycle, stopped agitating and spinning. will fill to correct water levels and shut down. no movement in dial whatsover. When manually turned to Heavy, med , light to agitate, nothing happens. Nothing happens in spin cycle either Lidswitch actuator making one click. Took out agitator, set on its back to inspect pullys. (2112425) pump pully seems ok but little worn, drive belt very loose,(the drive belt is a little biggerthan the pump belt) tried to adjust pump pully, then drive pully by pulling the motor, drive pully still too loose to spin drive. Is this possibly the only issue? I think im losing power after the fill cycle? Dan
