The Water Pump is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washing machines. It plays a key pump function by introducing water into the wash tub. Proper water circulation is necessary for effective cleaning.

Symptoms of a faulty pump include:

  • Slow or no water filling during wash cycles
  • Water leaks or drips due to cracked pump housing
  • Loud grinding or knocking noises during operation
  • Error codes for water fill related issues

Causes of pump failure can be due to regular usage over time, mineral buildup inhibiting flow inside the pump, or cracks developing in the plastic housing exposing internal components to corrosion.

This OEM Whirlpool replacement is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Water Pump (Part Number: OEM18071877)

Lou for Model Number WFW9250WW00

I believe I need to replace the drain pump (WPW10730972) as code F9E1 came up. Spin cycle also stopped with tub full of water. Are these two issues connected or do I have two problems. Also, in watching the video on changing the pump I see a difference with my machine. Your video shows both hoses with spring clamps. On mine the inlet hose has a spring clamp but the outlet hose has a hard white plastic 90 degree elbow and a band clamp. I am familiar with these band clamps as they are used on the axle boots on front wheel drive cars. They must be cut off so are a one time use. Even if I found a replacement band clamp, special tools are needed to securely tighten it. Do I need to change the outlet hose along with the pump? Thanks

Hello Lou, Fault code F9E1 is the fault code for a long drain. This indicates a clog or defective drain pump WPW10730972. If you need the drain pump hose clamps, the pump inlet side would be WP616099 and the outlet side is WP285655.

Fred, If the water pump is making noise then the pump would have to be replaced which there are 2 different ports and this should fit with no issue.

Gina, Do you hear water "sloshing" around when you rotate the drum ? This is normal, there is a fluid filled balance ring on the front of the tub and it does sound like water sloshing around when the tub is moved. If there is actually water in the tub, you'll need to remove power to the washer, remove the lower access panel and disconnect the tub to pump hose WPW10467168 from the bottom of the tub. There is a "check ball" W10121657 inside of the hose, it's to keep dirty water from backing up inside the tub. The hose and the ball can get clogged with deposits and lint and "stick" in the hose and keep the washer from draining. Clean out all the "gunk" in the hose, check to make sure the check ball is OK, then put it all back together and check the washer operation.

Danny, You will want to check the pressure hose to make sure that it is not clogged and test the pressure switch. If these check ok then the issue will most likely be caused by a faulty control board.

Hello Jim. If the wiring is good and you have power to the pump, you will need to replace the pump on the unit.

Mark S for Model Number WFW9150WW00

The washer wont spin dry. The error code is three quick beeps. I noticed the tub is full of water. I opened the pump filter and it was clean. After all the water drained out I took out the clothes and ran the test cycle. It definitely spinned. The pump makes a weird noise and the water hardly comes out of the discharge hose. I am thinking that the washer wont spin because the water isn't being pumped out. Is that correct? Would you recommend ordering a new pump?

1 Answer

Mark, Based on the information it does sound like the issue will be caused by a faulty drain pump which would need to be replaced.

Michael, No the pump would not come with new clamps and the clamps that are on the pump should be removable and reusable.
