Adam January 17, 2019 for Model Number WTW8800YC1 My control board caught fire during the spin cycle the other night. Heard loud "pop" with maybe some clunking followed, then smoke coming out of panel area. Washer completely dead so was hard to figure out what happened other than control board caught fire. Bought a used working control board because didn't feel catching a brand new on fire. Installed "new" non-burned control board, powered on just fine, but getting UL code and cycles going in a continuous loop. I expected the stator after seeing that it might be a possible culprit for the UL code. I found a nice size crack in the stator, could this be the culprit for my UL code and the cause of my control board shorting and catching fire?
1 Answer Adam, If there is a crack in the stator then this would be the issue and would need to replace the stator on the unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Rob, This is not recommended since there could be an electrical short or open caused by the crack. Also, if the stator ever contacts the rotor it can do serious damage to your machine, costing you much more money than just the replacement cost of the stator. Read More...
Mark December 11, 2018 for Model Number WTW6600SW2 Replaced the bearings and seals, along with the suspension rods 2 months ago and has worked fine. Now I'm getting a UL even if the machine is empty. Ran self-diagnosis with no issues. Rotor Position Sensor? If I hadn't replaced the rods I would say that would be my first move. Stator and rotor are not cracked. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Mark, The RPS and RPS Harness are both common failures on this model. They can be tested as per the tech sheet which is normally located in a plastic ziplock baggy adhered to the inside of the front panel of the cabinet. Read More...
David June 14, 2018 for Model Number WTW8800YC1 The seal and bearings went out so I replaced those. Now it is showing the F51 error code so I replaced the rotor position sensor and checked continuity between the RPS, motor, and board. All checked ok. I have successfully got it to spin once in manual diagnostic mode, but then it went back to F51. Lights show up on display showing that it is getting the RPS signal. When it tries to spin in diagnostic mode it is kind of jerky and then throws the code. Could this be a rotor/stator problem? There seems to be a little slack in it which I'm not sure if that's normal or not. Could it be the control board? Thanks
1 Answer Hello David, This is most likely a harness W10297446 issue. You can check the motor where the RPS connects but if you replaced it, the issue will be in the wiring or the in the control. Read More...
Chelsie H May 19, 2018 for Model Number WTW6800WW1 Just got our used machine installled at our house. Reinstall directions say to run it with just soap and water. Every time I get a OL error code. Also, I get the OL code when I run the self diagnostic test. Where do I begin to figure out what part needs to be replaced? MOD:WTW6800WW1 SERIAL: C00170235 TYPE:580 80 amps, 120 volts, 60 hz
1 Answer Chelsie, This error would indicate an overload issue. Since you are running it empty when getting this error then check for mechanical friction on the drive mechanism not allowing the basket to disengage. This would require the tub to be pulled out to check the hub assembly. Read More...
Curt May 18, 2018 for Model Number WTW6400SW3 This Whirlpool Cabrio will wash and rinse but when it comes to the final spin, I get an OL error message and it will not proceed. I have to put it into drain & spin setting to get the water to spin from the clothes.
1 Answer Hello Curt, This can be caused by an item between the tubs or a bad RPS WPW10178988 and/or RPS harness WPW10137697. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Chelsie, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can provide a proper diagnosis and recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. David May 09, 2018 for Model Number Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum Does water ever leak into the stator motor cover? If so from 1 to 10 and 10 meaning it never leaks into the stator cover how often does that occur? And if it were in occur does it damage the stator motor?
1 Answer David, We do not have a set failure rate but it is possible for the seal to leak and if it does it can damage the stator motor. Read More...
Jeff April 22, 2018 for Model Number Whirpool Cabrio Washing Machine Hi! My Cabrio is making a scraping noise which I have identified as coming from the stator and rotor. I can see where they are scraping. After this began I would sometimes get the uL code with 12 minutes left in spin cycle. I have replaced they shaft, bearings, and seal along with all suspension hardware without any success. Even balancing the maching with a level has not helped. I have also reinstalled the stator and rotor twice to no avail. Any ideas? Thank you!
1 Answer Hello Jeff. You will need to check and see if the rotor or stator is bad and will need to be replaced. Sounds like they may be bad since everything else is new on the unit. Thank you. Read More...
Jim March 13, 2018 for Model Number Kenmore 27086603 Just replaced my RPS sensor. Upon reassembly my cover is highly magnetized and will not seat back over the stator - the videos all show ease of replacement - my not so much. What am I missing? Any on getting the cover back over the stator?
1 Answer Hello Jim. You will need to keep pulling it off and slowly turning it repositioning it until it drops into place. Thank you. Read More...
