Hank November 09, 2020 for Model Number Cabrio WTW8000DW Hi, I recently noticed that my washer is not agitating with full force (the tub still rotates during agitation, but not as much as it did when new) and makes a noise that sound like the motor is not fully engaging with the agitator. I removed the washplate and removed a coin and some lint, but that didn't solve the problem. Could it be the stator? Thanks for any help!
1 Answer Hello Hank, on your model washer, the control board controls the speed and force of the agitator depending on the selected wash cycle, options selected and a measurement of the clothes load, also it varies the agitation speed/force as the cycle progresses. In the wash/agitation cycle, the wash basket is freewheeling and is not powered only the agitator plate is. Due to friction of the water/clothes load, it can rotate back and forth. Your model came with a Tech Sheet for all testing, it is located behind the front cabinet panel near the top. You can use it to check for any fault codes also you can do a recalibration that resets the control board. Lastly, you will need to locate the source of the noise,as it may point to the cause of the problem. Read More...
Rmh June 14, 2020 for Model Number 110.28102310 My Kenmore Series 700 washer is now showing a "5d" error code. But before this occurred. I noticed that during the spin cycle, the noise emitted sounded like a freight train was in my laundry room. It was that loud. I also notice what looks to be a tiny spray pattern of grease all around the floor. So I tried the Drain/Spin option and now all I get is a slow agitator moving left, click, pause, right click and this repeats every 2 seconds but the time left remains at 14 Any idea as to what I should start to replace? Thanks in advance.
1 Answer RMH, The 5d (or Sd) error code indicates that the control detected a suds lock or overdose of detergent during the drain or spin phases of the cycle. This is usually caused by overuse of detergent. It can also be caused by using regular detergent instead of HE (High Efficiency) detergent. The train sound or loud roaring in the spin cycle can also indicate a bearing issue with the machine. Read More...
Nilan June 12, 2020 for Model Number 79641162410 Hello, my washer drum attempts to spin but ends up shaking back and forth (as if the motor is locked) and gives the "LE" error code. I changed the Hall Sensor, so I know that's not the issue. How can I be certain that the stator is the problem?
1 Answer Nilan, it would be recommended that the spin basket is inspected for any indication of resistance when rotated by hand. If there is resistance, there may be clothing that got stuck in between the spin basket and the outer tub. If there is not resistance, the stator AJB73816004 windings can be tested. Each winding should test as having between 5O to 15O (windings should be about the same on each test). Another thing to look for would be if the spin basket is able to wiggle around inside of the outer tub. If it can, this would indicate a failing spyder shaft or tub bearing. Read More...
Dee Dee February 01, 2020 for Model Number LG WM2077CW Machine was making a loud noise; advised to check rotor; magnets were broken; replaced rotor, and stator assembly looked rusty and damaged; replaced that also. now tub won't turn, keep making a winning noise like it want to turn but won't; please advise what could be my next step to finding out the issue?
1 Answer Dee Dee, WIth having rust on the rotor and stator it sounds likely that you may have seized bearings. Check to see if the tub will turn by hand. If the bearings are good then the issue will likely be caused by a wiring issue or bad control board. Read More...
Vionkha M. August 16, 2019 for Model Number WTW5500XW3 My washer is only washing one way what could be wrong with it? It also is making a noise.
1 Answer Hello Vionkha, This can be an issue with the shift actuator WPW10006355, the splutch assembly W10721967, or the gearcase W11454372. Read More...

Doug April 22, 2019 for Model Number Cabrio WTW6400SW2 Getting UL code with about 12 minutes left in cycle. I replaced the suspension kit and still get code even when empty. Checked the stator and found several cracks. Is this causing the UL code?
1 Answer Doug, a cracked rotor assembly 280146 can certainly cause this issue. You may want to check to ensure that the stator assembly WPW10419333 has not been damaged by the rotor as it can cause further issues. Read More...
Michael March 14, 2019 for Model Number MTW6600TQ0 I was replacing the bearings and tub seal on my Maytag Bravos washer and saw that the stator was cracked in several places, so I planned to replace it. But I also noticed that the magnets on the stator were worn down somewhat from where it must have been scraping against the motor rotor/housing (the wear was fairly even all the way around the stator). You noted in another posting that if this were to happen it could cause “serious damage” to the machine. If that’s the case, is it still worth replacing the stator or am I better off just buying a new washer? Before I replaced the bearings and tub seal the machine frequently threw “out of balance” error codes, so I’m not sure if the stator problem caused some other kind of damage. The fluid in the inner tub is still intact so that’s not an issue, and the outer tub assembly isn’t cracked. But I’m just not sure what other kind of damage the cracked stator may have caused.
1 Answer Michael, the cracked stator and rotor will need to be replaced if you intend on keeping the washer. The out of balance condition can be caused by weak suspension rods, {AP5985113] Read More...
Carl February 20, 2019 for Model Number AP6021196 MFG Part Number: WPW10419333 I know that it means the specific details but what does the coding mean as in 03 Cu 53 195T meas year 2003 and wire type as CU means copper but what dose 53 and 195t mean. I see all these marking on the Motor Stator and I have to ask what does 03 Cu 53 195T stand for. Carl for Model Number Motor stator Part Number: AP6021196 MFG Part Number: WPW10419333 ANSWER Carl, this is a coding for the manufacturer to utilize in recognizing very specific details about the product.
1 Answer Carl, unfortunately we would not have the information available from the manufacturer in regards to the specific information that the 53 and 195T coding would indicate. Read More...
