Emilia October 28, 2013 for Model Number wtw5200vqz My whirlpool washer stops towards the middle-end of the rinse cycle. It is full of water (will not drain) or advance to the spin cycle even if I manually change it. Is this the lid switch?
1 Answer Emilia, Yes, it could be the lid switch WP8318084 at fault. The lid switch has to produce a "closed" circuit to the timer in order to reverse the motor direction and drain and spin the basket. The lid switch is a good place to start. Read More...

Lakesha October 11, 2013 for Model Number MVWC400XW My washer will not even go past the start, I do not think the lid is latching you can hear it clicking but can still open the lid. Would this be caused by the lid lock?
1 Answer Hello LaKesha, This can be caused by a defective lid latch mechanism W10404050 or a defective circuit in the machine control W10393490. The lid latch is the first suspect. Read More...
Papa T October 08, 2013 for Model Number LSQ9010PW3 I'm pretty sure my lid switch has gone bad. When the washer fills with water, it won't go into the next cycle without me banging on it. Could you tell me what lid switch I need for this model? Thanks
Rob September 23, 2013 for Model Number RAS7133KQO Roper by Whirlpool - top load Lid switch has separated and when lid is closed proper contact is not made with washer failing to spin. Need to replace part and have watched video but cannot find compatible part according to your website. I have removed the part and it looks similar to the one in the video.
Terri September 08, 2013 for Model Number WTW5560SQ My Whirlpool washer will fill and agitate...it pauses like it's supposed to, but then it buzzes and stops. It won't advance to the rinse cycle. If I wait 15 minutes or so, sometimes I can manually turn it to rinse and it will drain and spin to complete the cycle.
1 Answer Terri, This issue sounds like it would be caused by a sticking contact in the timer. After the agitation the unit would go into the drain, if the contact is stuck it will send power to both sides of the winding of the motor and will cause the motor to buzz and click off. By moving the timer it would allow the contact to free up and operate but sounds like a new timer is needed. The part number for the timer is WP8577356. Read More...

Cari June 08, 2013 for Model Number KAWS750LQ2 HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED A LID SWITCH, LID SWITCH ASSEMBLY, OR BOTH?
1 Answer Cari, The more common indicators of a faulty lid switch WP8318084 on your style washer is, the machine will fill and wash, but won't drain and spin. In your case you also want to check and make sure the lid hinge on the left side, is not loose, or the plastic sleeve is not worn out or damaged. The left side hinge activates the lid switch lever, if it's loose or out of alignment it may not activate the switch properly. Read More...
