For Whirlpool Dryer Thermal Cut-Off Kit (Part Number: OEM9282681)

Ken for Model Number 11096284800

My dryer stopped heating and after diagnosing the heating system using a multimeter tester, determined that the thermal fuse had failed. I ordered a replacement part and upon its arrival, checked it for continuity before installing it in the dryer. After completing the repair the dryer worked normally for one load of clothes but the same problem has reappeared (no heat). I took apart the dryer and again tested the heating components and concluded that the thermal fuse that I had just replaced had failed (no continuity). Could this just be the misfortune of a bad part or could something else have triggered the part's failure?

Hello Ken. You need to check for a stopped up venting system. If the vent is good, check for a grounded heater or a bad cycling thermostat on the unit.

Hello Joanbohac. Remove the screw or the terminal off the heater spade and install it onto the new heater. These are easy to swap out.

Lionel, This issue would be caused by 1 of 2 issues. The first thing that you will want to check is your venting from the blower wheel all the way to the outside of the unit to make sure that it is not clogged. If the venting is clear then the issue would be a faulty cycling thermostat which is located on the blower housing. The part number is WPY304475.

Rick, If the unit is not shutting off at the end of the cycle then you will first want to check for broke or exposed wires. If the wiring checks ok then the timer would be the issue.

Billy, You will want to check to make sure that the dryer venting is not clogged. You will want to check from the blower wheel all the way to the outside of your home to make sure that there is not a clogged or restricted vent. You can also take the vent off the back of the dryer and put a stocking over it and check to see if it dries and this will also be a good test to tell you whether it is a clogged vent. If the clothing dries on high then the vent from the inside wall of the home to the outside of the home is clogged.
