Scott for Model Number mdb7709aww2

I just replaced the keyboard panel to resurrect a non-functional unit which indeed fixed the problem. After two cycles the dishwasher again died. This time I traced the problem to a blown thermal fuse (no connectivity, plus bypassing it to cancel the last cycle and drain the machine, this function worked. The display LEDs also reappeared). Do you think there is a connection between these two problems? Should I try to trouble shoot a possible short before I waste the cost of a thermal fuse replacement? Thanks. Scott

Hello Scott, It would be a good idea to check for possible shorts in the wiring that would cause the thermal fuse to blow but the keypad failure could have contributed to the thermal becoming weak and finally failing.

Brent, You're correct, it's not likely a fuse or door switch. If it were the unit would be "dead" (no lights, or programs). You most likely need a control panel/keypad assemby W10811151. The start button/keypad has probably failed, and when the control board sees nothing operating, it shuts itself down.

Hello Kate, This sounds like you have either got a bad connection on the ribbon cable or the control panel has failed. It it possible for the control board WPW10084141 to cause this, but isn't as probable as the connections or the failure of the control panel. Before ordering any parts you can eliminate the ribbon cable connections by cleaning them. To do this, access the control board through the door liner. Remove the ribbon cable and rub the connections with a pencil eraser. Be aware that if you rub the traces in any other direction other that toward the end of the ribbon cable, you can separate the traces from the ribbon and require the control panel replacement. Reinstall the ribbon cable and run the unit. If the problem persists, replace the control panel WP8572344. KUDL02IRBS0

Hi. Look under the front panel to see if the float part WP8268895 stem has no contact with the float switch part # WP8268909. Make sure the wire connections are OK as well. It opens and closes the neutral feed to the water fill valve part # W10648041. If all of this is OK, then make sure you have 120 vac to the water valve terminals. Ohm out the valve and make sure the resistance is there and not open (O-ohms). Ohm each terminal to the water valve metal body to see if the solenoid windings inside the valve are shorted. If so replace it so you get the water fill and the control board does not time out with no water fill. Thank You.

Bill, It won't be the thermal fuse W10258275, The panel lights would not illuminate if it were. You most likely have an issue in the Control panel/keypad assembly. We'll send you some information, so you can program test(s) and diagnostic modes and determine the issue and reset the control board.

Hello Joseph, The thermal fuse W10258275 should be mounted at the edge of the control board inside the door panel. It has two wires going to it and there is nothing else in there that resembles it. If you opened the cover that covers the control board, it should have been right there.

Hello Joe, Check the wire nuts in the power connection box behind the kickpanel. If none of them are melted, open the control panel and check the thermal fuse W10258275. If the fuse is good, the control board W11202746 will require replacement.
