1 Answer Randy, It is not showing that one would replace the other and you will want to use the one the manufacturer states to use for your unit as there may be a temperature variation that will not allow the other to work properly for your unit. Read More...
Bruce Pedrick November 16, 2020 for Model Number KERC608LSS0 Just got new oven element from you. Still is not performing as in past . Read on your site about hidden baking element. Can you help
1 Answer Bruce, The most likely cause for this will be a faulty control board WP9782437. Read More...
Andrei February 19, 2020 for Model Number KESA907PSS00 When I turn the front left burner on (single or dual setting) the burner will come on for a second then shut off, then come on, then shut off... etc etc etc... Sometimes it comes on and holds temperature but more often than not it'll just click back and forth. It started with one medium setting not holding temperature and then began the clicking. Wondering if that it the switch or the thermal limiter in the surface element or something else. The rest of the burners work with no problems. Thanks.
1 Answer Andrei, the switch can be tested at the terminal using the orange wire (with black tracer stripe) for 120VAC to ground with a voltmeter. Disconnect the wire with the range unplugged from the outlet and secure the wire so that it does not touch anything. From there, the range would be plugged back in and the switch would be turned on to the dual heat setting. If the terminal stops sending 120VAC when the burner clicks off, the switch has failed. If it does not stop sending 120VAC, the element W10823692 has failed. Unfortunately, the infinite switch kit W10307362 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available. Craig January 31, 2020 for Model Number KESS908SPS00 The right front heating element occasionally turns itself off. The touch control lights go off as if I turned it off after use. I can immediately turn the element back on and it works and cycles like it should for a particular heat setting. Is it the heating element, the sensor that control the heat output or possibly an overheat sensing thermostat? Inquiring minds want to know.
1 Answer Craig, This issue would most likely be a control board issue part number WP9757063. Read More...
Rob April 11, 2019 for Model Number YKERS807SS02 The left front element starts to come on and then shuts off. This happens in single or dual setting. All other elements work fine. What should I be checking?
1 Answer Rob, it is likely that the thermal limiter in the element W10823692 is not operating properly. You can check the switch to ensure that it is continuously sending the voltage to the element. If it is, then the element has failed. Read More...
Allen April 24, 2018 Have a kitchenaid gas range supra. Unplugged it. And now the control lock will not unlock. The words too hot appear on the screen. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Allen. Test the temp sensor and if it is good, you will need to replace the control board on the unit. Thank you. Read More...
Mark March 30, 2018 for Model Number GY396LXPS00 My dear old Mum ran the self cleaning/destructing cycle on our oven. Since then, the top burner surface works fine, control panel seems to be ok. I can turn on oven, select temp, broil, etc but oven does not heat. Replaced Oven Temperature Sensor WPW10131825 But no change. Oven still does not heat. Any thoughts? Do I need to try this: Thermostat WP9759944 Thank you !
1 Answer Mark, You will need to check or replace the heating element thermal fuse WP9759243 / 4451442 Thermostat (TOD)(Temp.) SPST located on the back of the oven cavity. If/when the oven overheats the fuse "opens" and interrupts the L2 power supply to the bake and broil elements, and the oven won't heat. Also check and make sure the blower fan comes on and circulates the air under the cooktop. Read More...
1 Answer Roger, The elements are designed to cycle off and on. If the element is shutting off completely and not coming back on then you will want to check to see if there is 240 vac getting to the element still when it shuts down. If there is not then the the switch is faulty and if there is then the element is faulty. Read More...
Ted September 20, 2017 for Model Number GY396LXGQ4 I have a Whirlpool oven, GY396LXGQ4, and I have low voltage going to my oven heating element...only 49.6 volts. The broiler element is fine and receives 220 volts. What part or parts could cause that? The temperature sensor ohms fine as do both heating elements.
1 Answer Hello Ted. Check and make sure all your wiring is good. If so then the control board has failed. The control board has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part. Read More...
Barry August 21, 2017 for Model Number KGSS907SSS00 Hi, I have a similar question to one that was posted but a slightly different model. We ran the KitchenAid oven on self clean and it stopped near the end of the cycle. Oven display went blank door remained locked. I replaced the thermostatic fix on the back of the oven, (part no 9759242), no change, I opened the front of the panel looking for another thermal fuse, I don't have a continuity tester. Two similar thermostatic fix components, part numbers 9759944 and 9757807, are located behind the display. I bypassed the 9759944 and the fan comes on, I understand that this circuit needs to reach a certain temp to activate the fan, Bypassing 9757807 does nothing. Do I need to test the continuity of these two parts? Is there another thermal fuse in the control panel area? Thanks Barry
1 Answer Barry, Bypassing the fan thermal will allow the fan to come on. You will want to do a continuity test on the other thermostat to make sure that there is continuity. If this checks ok then this issue will most likely be a faulty control board for the unit. Read More...
